12th senator-elect: Miguel Zubiri or Koko Pimentel?
The ball is now in the hands of the Supreme Court, which will decide who will complete the 12 senators.
The recanvassing of the municipal certificates of canvass from 22 towns of Maguindanao gave Miguel Zubiri a total of 195,823 votes against Koko Pimentel’s 67,111. Prior to this, Pimentel was leading Zubiri by more than 111,000 votes. There will be an oral argument at the Supreme Court regarding the petition filed by Koko Pimentel for a temporary restraining order to exclude the Maguindanao votes for allegations of tampered and “manufactured” results.
