AJ Banal loses to Rafael Concepcion via knockout

Rafael “El Torito” Concepcion of Panama knocked out crowd favorite A.J. “Bazooka” Banal in round 10 of their 12-round World Boxing Association interim super flyweight boxing match dubbed as “Laban na Banal: Panahon Na” at the Cebu Coliseum in Cebu City.

The referee counted Banal out 2:35 of the 10th round after Concepcion landed a straight right to the Filipino’s left temple. Banal dropped to 17-1-1 with 14KOs, while Concepcion improved to 11-2-1 with 7 KOs. Meanwhile, the other three Filipino boxers won their respective fights. Milan Milendo won a unanimous decision over Carlos Melo of Panama, Michael Domingo knocked out Indonesian Rivo Rengkung in the second round, and James Bacon knocked out Indonesian Skak Max in the sixth.
