Barack Obama elected US President

47-year-old Democratic senator Barack Obama was elected USA’s first African American president Tuesday night after getting 324 electoral votes to Republican McCain’s 120.
He will be the 44th president of the United States. Obama and his running mate, Senator Joseph Biden of Delaware, will take their oaths of office as president and vice president on Jan. 20, 2009.
