Barista Job at Starbucks Philippines
This post is a guide, if you will on how to apply for a barista job at Starbucks Coffee Company in the Philippines.
A certain “Kings of Leon” commented on one of our posts on how he was able to apply for a barista position.
Here are the steps according to him:
1) Visit any Starbucks branch and ask any of the staff for assistance. You can check the counter as well for application forms, which has all the information you need to apply.
2) It does not matter what branch you go to. The company will call you for an interview and you will proceed to their corporate office in Buendia Avenue, Makati.
3) You will fill up a form there asking you what would be your ideal location and schedule for your shift.
“Bottomline: Go to any Starbucks branch and ask for the manager. He/she should be able to help you. Good luck.” he added.

I think its better if you can complete the process and add the requirements. like if they only require students as part time, or they also have full time jobs as well.. or if they require above-average english speaking people to apply.. something like that.. so the readers will have more idea, and be more excited if they fit the qualifications..

just wanna ask.. how come hrs are not informing applicants whether they’ll hav to wait for that 6 weeks longer before a we recieve a call from store mngr of preffered area?.. here’s another tip for those who are willing to work at Starbucks. As an old partner of starbucks as part-time barista with the age of 18, potentials can be determined by the managers and interviewers through your confidence and willingness to work at the company. You availability is also important to avoid conflict in schedules. I am a nursing student and i do the job as part-time and since i have irregular schedule, it gives me a lot of free time the whole semester.
here are some of my tips! ^^
*if you wanted to be interviewed immediately, you can apply as a walk-in applicant in the main office in buendia (for instructions, visit my multiply and send me your questions)
*submitting your resume, together with a “dream venti” application form available at the condiment bar of any branch of starbucks, will take much longer time for them to call you up. walk-in application is much recommended ^^
*on the day of your first interview, please wear business attire. i encountered one of my batchmates in our first interview still wears her nursing uniform. it will affect the interviewer’s impression. make a good first impression!
*confidence and willingness to work at the company is important.
*at the end of the interview, you’ll receive a letter on the same day telling you if you passed or you didn’t. if you did, congratulations and wait for the second call for you interview with a branch/store manager. usually the 2nd and final interview will be on the same day (as what i experienced).
*For walk-in applicants (usually college graduates of any course) will have 2 interviews in the main office. and you’ll get the result on the same day.

Been there, done that. I too was a barista not a long time ago…And I’m no longer connected with the company. Just a simple advice for all aspiring baristas out there: It’s just a matter of luck, good for you if your application caught the company’s attention, and better luck next time if not. You just have to have a presentable resume, presentable self and the right amount of confidence. It’s not that necessary if your english is not that fluent, as long as you know the basics–the rest will follow. And top of that, a very good character will build your foundation there..trust me, it will. So, just like what they have said above, applying for the position is easy. You have many options, you may either go to the nearest starbucks coffee shop and ask the baristas on how to apply or just get the application form in the condiment area of the store…Just fill out the form and hand it over to the barista together with your resume at any starbucks branch or you may simply pass your resume in their main office at makati or simply send it thru email– people@rustancoffe.com.. It doesn’t matter where you pass your resume, because if the company will hire you, they will assign you to a store that is accessible to your place, so no need to worry about that. Just wait for the text regarding your first interview, be in corporate attire and make a good impression ;)

I just received a text from starbucks a while ago regarding my initial interview on thursday. We passed our resume last March 16. So it took about 2weeks before they contacted us. So there guys, just wait for 2 weeks and wait for your initial interview. Wish me luck on thursday! and good luck to all of us aspiring barista’s.

Rustan Coffee their corporate office is located at Buendia..
Urban Building…
And here’s the most easiet way I know if you’re going there…
Ride an MRT (any station as long as it is an MRT- not LRT)
going to Buendia Station…
Once you are in the Buendia Station just walk there… and ask someone where is the Urban Building…
it near the Shell Station..

Yep Jhenny is right Bryan! Just go straight to Urban building in Buendia. But I also tried to send my resume through email, and I think the latter part worked coz I asked my friends if they were also informed regarding the initial interview (we were 5 btw.) and then only two of us got the text in which both of us sent our resume through email just to be 100% sure that they have no excuse not receiving our resume:)

Yeah It was my initial interview this morning and luckily I passed the initial interview and Im up for the second interview after 3 weeks pa daw kase next week will be non working holiday wala daw sila maprocess that time. and regarding if they are accepting without experience, yeah Its ok kase I also dont have experience yet. Just be confident in the interview and be honest.

@ Bryan regarding Initial interview, they will ask you to make an introduction about yourself that is not included in your resume, just tell something about the things you like etc. etc. just be confident and honest and look at the interviewer at all times. Btw, I’m 21 and i’ll be graduating this year:)

Greetings Edmund, I submitted a letter with an enclosed resume last march 30 through e-mail. They text me that I will have an interview last april 2 (the same day of your initial interview) and I think we both have the same sender named REA. I have given a confirmation but unfortunately my mother was sent to hospital and my other application on a summer job called. Anyway do you think they’ll still hire this coming sem. i just want to say that its not that easy to pass the initial interview. We were 20 in our batch but unfortunately, 2 of us passed.(thank God!) im not discouraging you guys but i just want to remind you that DON’T take the initial interview LIGHTLY. prepare yourself, dress professionally, wear your biggest SMILE(it’s very important.) and lastly, be CONFIDENT.:) if they ask you in english, answer back in english (its a must). Before i forgot, PRAY before the interview. it will surely help u a lot.:)

@ralph: You dont have to put it in a brown envelope na, when you go there they will give you a form, just fill it up. and then you just have to attach your resume with picture with the form. that’s it!. btw, you only need the dream venti form if you’re gonna be passing it on the branch. With regards to your attire, I think its still okay to be in smart casual when you’re gonna be passing the form palang. If your for interview na, that’s the only time na kelangan naka corporate talaga. Goodluck!

oks naman interview hehe, wala ng 3rd interview.kahit hindi ka naka necktie, ok na yun polo/long sleeves then slacks. Dun sa expected salary just leave it blank nalang muna for the mean time, that’s what i did. Sa interview, like what others said just be confident, honest, be enthusiastic and show some personality. That’s basically it:)

alam ko wala talagang nag iinterview the day na isubmit mo application form mo with your resume eh. lahat ng company syempre aaralin profile mo. I dropped by the head office and they told me to wait for 6 weeks. Yun, i guess ill just have to wait for their text ;)

I am now working in a particular call center company at Makati, I applied as barista @ starbucks coffee. I’ve passed their initial interview way back then, Just got the phone call from starbucks yesterday Which I Have been waiting since last year. Anyone can give me an advise what to do? Staying where I am now(customer support).. Or grab the job opportunity to the said coffee shop(barista).

for applicants who wants to be as a barrista, whether you dont have any experiences in a coffee shop you can still apply, what really important is your desire to have that position. For interviews basically you must be presentable, corporate attire will do because sometimes what you wears add points.Being organize or being well dress simply means that you prepared for the interview. Answer all questions promptly, listen carefully so you wont give any wrong answers, be honest, if you dont know the answer then tell them, dont pretend you know all.Point out you willingness to work in their company, reasons why you wanted to work in their company and lastly try to avoid the reason that you want to work because you want to earn money and support your family because thats given, you will work and you will earn.Try to tell them that you would like to be a part of thier company because you would like to enhance your potential, potential of being flexible, being a hardworking individual and the idea of providing a good customer service.thats all for now, to all who has the desire then go for it… just think you have all reasons to be a part of starbucks

Well, way back last year. When I was at the Starbucks’ Main office for my initial interview, we were approximately 20 applicants. And luckily I was one of the 5 or 6 applicants who have passed the said interview. It took almost 8 months to get their phone call from the manager of one of their outlet where they will be assigning me to. I never got their phone call until last day. They did ask me to be at Valero, Makati for my final interview. I decided not to have the final interview and stay where I am working right now. PAC MAN good luck to you anyway.

I’m 21 and a nurse, bum nurse, well actually im a volunteer in a certain hospital here in our town, its just that i dont like what im doing but instead i want to be a barista. last time i went to tagaytay i asked one of the baristas there on how to apply and then he told me to just pass a resume with the “DREAM VENTI” application form. age requirement:
youngest barista i know is 18. walang age limit.
educational requirement:
college level lahat ng barista friends ko. kahit di graduate ok lang.
part-time hours:
minimum 20 hours/week
1st interview: with HR personel
madali lang. sobra. yun mga batch na 2 or 3 lang ang natanggap, di lang mahusay (no offense) ang batch nyo siguro. kasi nung batch ko 10 ata kami nakuha (so guys, don’t lose hope). confidence and drive ang priority nila hindi ang english-speaking skills nyo. madali lang mag-english, mahirap magpakita ng tamang confidence.
at the end of the day: DO or DIE na. kaya good luck!
2nd interview: Store Manager
mas mahaba.. mga 1 hour siguro ‘to. depende kung natuwa sayo yung SM or kung gusto ka na nya bitawan. dito ij-judge ang character mo at priorities mo.
3rd interview: District Manager
masaya ‘to! mas maiksi sa 2nd interview.
duration:
1month-ish bago ka mag-sign ng contract from your 1st interview.
continuous ang hiring ng Starbucks. kaya go lang ng go!
wala tayo sa States. dito dumadami ang Starbucks store di nagsasara.

@bang: if you want you can also submit the Dream Venti form just to be sure. pero the email is usually enough. HR folks are always online naman eh.
@me: as far as i know, they don’t accept minors. i’ve never met a barista below the age of 18. bihira pa nga ang mga 18-year-old baristas eh.

@yousush: yes they will require you to have that. for legal matters kasi yun mga papers na yun eh. TIN, SSS, work permit and health permit. they will give you ample time to fix those papers naman eh.

Just be ready to introduce yourself ;) they might also ask you why you chose starbucks. I passed my 1st interview last may 19. Im just waiting for my 2nd interview :) by the way, dont worry about qualifications when it comes to your college degree, my friend who took nursing also passed the interview. :) just be confident and show them that you’re enegetic:)

@anj: i have a barista friend with a similar situation as yours. ok lang yan. basta 18 ka (cause you’ll need legal documents like TIN and the like) and atleast college level. kahit nag-stop ka ok lang. kahit nga wala kang barista certificates eh, ok lang :)

guys, i encourage you to just wait for the text kasi last tuesday, 2nd interviews were held at Starbucks Atrium and 6 people were scheduled that day and only 3 showed up. more slots! haha. just sharing. good luck! :) patience is a virtue. yeh!

@willie: from what i know, walang starbucks sa davao.. i’m not sure sa cebu.. the farthest starbucks branch i know is the one in boracay.. ang alam ko sa boracay branch, nagpapadala sila dun ng baristas from manila.. kung luzon areas naman like pampanga or yung mga nasa SLEX, NLEX, ganun din ang application kasi ang training facility lang is the support center or the head office- the one that’s in makati (buendia). :)

Hi again, starbucks texted me last friday 11am asking me if Im available for a part time barista position at their SM moa branch but I only called them today and they told me that the store manager will contact me for my schedule. I only called them today, is there a chance that my spot might be given to other applicants because of my late reply? sorry ha kulet ko exited n ksi ako to work for starbucks. :)

hey paulo, when they texted you last friday, did they assign you a schedule already? if not then don’t worry. the store manager will get back to you :) if they have given you a schedule last friday and it was over the weekend and you already missed it then they might have given the spot to another applicant already..

hey paulo, it really depends on the Store Manager’s availability but i believe that the Store M will still get back to you. your scheduled interview would depend on his/her itinerary. plus, if they were planning to schedule applicants as a batch. so they probably texted a couple of applicants wanting the same area and would schedule depending on how many replied their availabilities. hehehe. ok lang yan, just wait for it :) bat kasi di ka agad nagreply? hehe :) basta reply ka sa number na nag-text sayo. most likely, number yun nung mismong store manager or yun assistant store manager.
PS. i do work for Starbucks, hehe :) secret na kung anong branch..

babyJ,seems na kaw lng consistent na sumsagot ng mga tanung d2 hehe,my counter part ka sa pex si master vinoi pero nd na xa ngwowork sa starbucks..hmm question my ngpost kc sa pex bout sa training sched.sa training.recent lng xa ngtraining eto post nya
training ko nun two weeks. first week: 3days sa support (buendia) 2nd week: 2 days sa support ulit.mamimili ka kung anu gusto mong sched sa support kung umaga or panghapon pero kelangan mu parin pumunta sa assigned store mu kase start narin ng in-store learning mu.

too much free time on my hands lang siguro.. :)
yes, 2 weeks ang training. 5 days a week. 2 days off.
pag part-timer, yes, pwede mamili ng schedule. fulltime barista cannot.
half of the day sa training (support center). half sa assigned store.
they will give you a list of classes you need to take sa support center na naka-schedule na for 2 weeks. should you be unavailable on a given scheduled class, pwede ka pa lipat. kaso you have to coordinate with HR. baka din kasi maubusan ka na ng class. wala na palang naka-schedule. hehe. pwede mo paayos sa Store Manager mo and schedule mo. i’m sure they won’t mind :)

marami namang outlets nang starbucks dito sa cebu… mga 5 o higit pah… kaya lang hindi ku talaga alam kung paano mag apply dito… sabi ng mate ku nung mga march yata ay meron silang binigay nah application sheet yatah….

oo nga, may mga branches sa cebu.. i checked. haha. di ko lang sure kung same ang cebu branches with that of the boracay branch na they transfer baristas from manila to boracay.. kasi nga sa makati lang ang training center nila.. sorry di ko alam eh.

@imba: di ko kasi alam ang starting rate kasi after sometime, they will give you PAs that will gradually increase your salary. pero this i can tell you, mas mahal ang bayad sa starting part timers kasi per hour ang bayad not per day. in terms of per hour salary ah. kasi syempre mas maraming hours ang fulltime so pag sum mas malaki syempre ang makukuha ng full time. ganito, in a day’s salary, 1 day lang, mas malaki ang makukuha ng part timer sa isang full shift kesa sa full timer na nag full shift. haha, gets ba?
also, i’m sure starting salaries at starbucks are way higher that minimum. :)

@paulo: hmm.. try texting the number na nag text sayo. dun ka mag text. head office.. hmmm.. feeling ko ang sasabihin lang nila is naforward na sa store manager yung papers mo and wait for him/her to conatct you na lang. pero try mo rin. sabihin mo follow up lang. or tell them your story. na di ka nga nakareply agad..

@imba: thanks bro. Well I had my initial int last May 19 pa. Then yung 2nd is last Monday July 6. That means 2 months plus hinintay ko. hehe ang tgal. Nag fofollow up me by calling HR kasi natatagalan na ko. Yup 2nd and last int na po un. District managaer na agad. Bro no need to worry. Mabait nmn manager, and I think pag pass ka sa initial int eh kayang kaya m na ung 2nd (thats what I think..). Just be yourself when answering. Honesty lang. Good luck!

Hi guys! This forum was really helpful for me, I got a lot of tips here concerning my application at Starbucks. I’m a nursing student and 19 years old, last May 13, 2009 I submitted my resume in the main building and had my initial interview after 2 weeks that was last May 27, 2009, we were 10 in our batch and I was the only one that got accepted. So never take the first interview lightly, show some confidence and practice how you’ll introduce yourself before the interview. As of now I’m still waiting for my second call it’s been 2 months already!

ang i was surprised kse 2 manager nag interview sken.. part time position inapplyan ko kse un lng ang available sbi ng HR.. mejo nahirapan ako sa interview kse parang pang manager ung mga tanong nla pero its ok,i was able nman to answer them..

hey imba! for the second interview, be presentable. dress well. business attire pa rin yan eh. be yourself. answer honestly. ang mga tanong dyan, more on the job at hand. mga situational questions. like,
would you be willing to work ’til the wee hours of the morning?
if they assign you to a store with a CR would you be willing to clean it?
how will you handle customer complaints? etc.
tsaka deeper background interview. family stuff, school stuff. like, job of your parents? any siblings? priorities in life? haha. sa 1st kasi short interview lang diba? good luck! :) mabait naman lahat ng mga Store Ms eh :)

Katulad ko, I prefered quezon city so they sent me sa Banawe which is almost QC area. Don’t worry, they won’t send you naman sa malayo sa house mo. Try calling this number: 8962755. hey chesca, i suggest you apply as part-time barista na lang. it’ll be harder kasi for both you and the management to change schedules. for example, your store will need this number of full-time baristas tapos bigla kang papachange ng part time, kawawa din store mo sa paghahanap ng man power. oo nga pwede mag-borrow ng partners from other stores kaso di rin available ang other baristas everytime your store will need them.

Hey Eve! :) after the second interview, they usually tell you to wait for a text message confirming your interview with the district manager.. pero there were times na available na yun district manager right after your second interview so tuloy-tuloy na yun.. depende rin.. hope that answers your question. best of luck! :)

hey rJhei! hmm.. they rarely call to schedule your 1st interview but they do send out text messages. joketime lang yung dahil BSN ka or di ka attractive. i have tons of barista friends that are registered nurses kaya di nila pinapansin yun basta you have the drive to work for it :) as for the good looking part.. hmm.. ayoko naman sabihin na pangit ang mga barista friends ko.. syempre for me, lahat sila pogi! lahat sila pretty.. :) just remember, patience is a virtue. haha :) best of luck!

hi guys, i do have an intial interview scheduled on monday at 830 am, I’am quite nervous but excited too coz I really love being a barista, what do i expect on the intial interview? tips pls?

hi!i really wanted to apply for starbucks even before…but im not sure if im qualified..im an undergrad of a 4year course,finished 2years of it..ano po b un qualifications?do u really have to be a grad or one shud have an experience on being a barista?i want to apply there kase im planning to continue my studies nxt yir so kelangan ko magipon at the same tym,if ever mtnggap ako,i can be a working student..aun po.. sana may magreply..thanks..i know one of you can be a great help…

hey paulo! hmm.. yun sa schedule thing, di ko alam yun eh. sorry. walang ganun dati eh. may schedule arrangements lang kami during training na with our assigned store managers. questions form the district manager.. hmmm.. wala lang.. kamusta kamusta lang yung ganyan ko eh.. tsaka konting situational questions like how would you handle customer complaints etc. hehehe. definitely easier than the 2nd interview! :)best of luck paulo! :)

all i can say is starbucks has der own barista academy to trained der selected applicants…all coffee shops in da world has der own training academy for barista to secure the standards in coffee making…

5. i am a true Starbucks barista, part-timer, kaya i have time to surf the net and answer a couple of your questions. not everything syempre sa HR alam ko dahil, hindi ako taga-HR and every year nagiiba ang pag-process nila. i just want to help as much as i can.
6.yes, Starbucks Philippines has a training facility. not an academy, just a facility. that’s the one in Makati, their head office. or the Support Center as we call it.

for the second interview, kung may smart casual ka na clothes, i suggest you wear that. ok lang mag short sleeves basta may collar pero i suggest you wear slacks for your pants. im sure they won’t judge you with what you wear kaso syempre, 1st impressions ang gusto natin pagandahin. better over dressed than under dressed. fix your hair, wear clean shoes. be presentable :) before kasi sa 3rd yung kahit casual clothes na lang eh.
questions on: family stuff, personal background (ie. education, experience), situational questions on things na pwede mangyari sa work:
(eto questions sa akin dati)
would you be ok to work ’til the wee hours of the morning?
would you be willing to clean toilets (for stores with CRs)?
would you be willing to extend kung late yung kapalit mo ng shift, etc.
madali lang. hindi naman quiz yun eh. parang “let’s get to know you” stage lang. hehe :)

@babYj I have a question is it an advantage if you finished a barista course at any Tesda Accredited training centers? Im a college grad and just finished my barista course. Another question are they still hiring full-timers? cause I like to apply for a full-time. your”e a part-timer right? Is it better to be a part-timer than a full-timer in terms of schedule?

@imbaneski: DM interviews.. yun aking super sandali lang sya, mga 10 minutes lang siguro yun. matagal lang ako nag-hintay. dami kasi namin naka-shedule that day.. sabi nila dati pag umabot ka na ng 3rd interview, hired for sure ka na.. kaso i have this one friend na umabot ng 3rd interview pero di na-hire. we were guessing baka na “lost-in-tranisition” ang papers nya. sayang nga eh. pero the rest of us were hired. so most likely, yes, hired ka na if you reach the 3rd. madali lang ang 3rd. cool naman most of the DMs eh. few questions lang yun di gaya ng 2nd na mahaba. closing shifts, yes, nakakapagod, i won’t lie. pero kung fun ang team mo, di mo na mamamalayan ang pagod. :) depende ang closing time eh. like the one at ADB, 7pm palang sarado na yun eh. yun iba naman, umaga na nagc-close. kaya, good luck talaga kasi baka there will come a time na uwi ka na lang para maligo. hehe. pero very considerate naman mga store M’s. they will really try their best to make you comfortable with your schedule. :)
@givemereason: over qualified applicants are more than welcome to apply. i know this one barista na super rich kid sya, regular Starbucks customer, he has his own car and everything na you’d really have to ask bakit ka nagaapply dito?! kaso he really showed passion sa interviews nya kaya yun, na-hire naman sya. pero sandali rin lang sya nag-stay. part-time and he just finished his contract. :)
@paulo: congrats! last hurdle na yan. don’t know dexter yap eh. parang narinig ko na name nya nung annual dinner pero i don’t know him. sang area ba yan? QC? tips.. hmm.. same din. smile, be confident but not too proud, be sincere, listen to what he’s saying, be polite. best of luck! :)

@paulo: nung akin kasi wala pang 1 week natawagan agad ako eh.. di ko lang alam ngayon kung ganun pa rin. pag pinatawag ka na ng HR, dun na ie-explain sayo lahat nung mga legal documents na kainlangan mo (ie. health permit, sss, tin, etc.) tsaka contract signing.. weeeh! exciting na yan! hahaha.
@imbaneski: 20 ang minimum hours and 30 ang maximum hours per week ng part time barista. pwede ka rin mabigyan ng full shift na 10 hours kung available ka. pero ang half-shift depende sa store. may mga store na 5 hours ang halfshift, meron 6 hours. depende sa store hours nyo yun tsaka sa number of partners sa store nyo :)

@iammiki: undergrads are very much welcome to apply. you just have to be at least 18, college level kahit hindi graduate. :)
@tarte: having been trained as a barista is an advantage pag na-hire ka na kasi you’d know the basics. pero i don’t think it’s an advantage sa application form mo. kasi a lot of baristas i know were hired with absolutely no experience being a barista. talagang drive and passion ang hinahanap nila (i think) kasi may training naman after you get hired kaya di kailangan ng previous experience. ako, may training din before sa lab namin pero never ko sya binanggit during application and na-hire pa rin naman ako. as for the fulltime positions, contiuous hiring ang Starbucks lalo na ngayon kasi parating na ang Christmas Rush!!! hehehe :)

@mhei00: questions from the DM are usually very easy. mga situational lang. “what would you do?” questions.. pero like mine, mas maraming chikahan lang. hehe. :P parang 10 minutes lang ata yun akin, hehe :)
@OLFUnursing: the 2 interview is conducted by a Store Manager. depende kung sang area ka maa-assign. pero not necessarily, kung sino nag-2nd interview sayo, yun na store M mo pag na-hire ka. minsan naman, like my case, yung store M ko na ang nag-2nd interview sa akin kaya kilala na nya ko nung na-hire ako. :) basta sa lahat ng interviews, be honest, smile, be confident and dress well! :) best of luck! :)
@tina b: i didn’t have Tesda training. ang training ko lang was back in college sa lab namin. Figaro Coffee company ang ka-tie up namin.. Alumna sa college namin ang CEO ng Figaro eh, kaya free training kami.

hey imbaneski! try mo both. pero feeling ko dun mas may chance sa Store M. kasi pag ni-release na ng support yun sa district yun papers mo, dun na mags-circulate yun. kaya feeling ko dun mo itanong dapat sa store M. after ng interview mo with the DM tsaka lang ata babalik yun papers mo sa support eh. again, i’m just guessing.. best of luck! :)

hi baby j! i was interviewed by the dm yesterday aug 18 at the main office in buendia,it was fun! after the interview I was asked to fill up forms and was told to come back for the training! yipee! the long wait is over! i was assigned at starbucks rob place manila, thank u for being such a nice person and answering all my queries and others as well, hope I could meet u someday!

It’s been my dream to work as a barista to starbucks to gain experience and confidence and soon used as a main weapon on this very competitive world. hi, Nag pasa ako sa starbucks main office august ir last week ng july then after that i got a txt for my initial interview ang bilis nga eh, pasado naman,xempre meron di pumasa. Then today August 23 sunday I had my second interview with a store manager and i passed again. She told me that maybe this week Iam having my last interview with a distrcit manager. Ang bilis diba?! before i thought matagal ang application pero di pala. Kaya for those who are planning mag pasa lang kayu sa main office mas mabilis dun.:) goodluck guys and goodluck din sakin.:)

Try ko mag walk-in applicant in Buendia within this week talaga, but i’ll also be submitting a DREAM VENTI application form sa nearest Starbucks branch dito samen.
I’m really excited kahit di ko naman alam kung matatanggap ako or what :D haha.
nasobrahan ata sa pagka-optimistic e. goodluck sa mga mag-aapply and naghhintay!
p.s. pag walk-in pala may interview na agad or wait pa rin ng schedule for the initial interview? hehe..

hi.. im new here.. im confused.. i had my initial intrview last Aug.20, and then.. my 2nd intrview Aug.28, just this morning.. i was first intrviewd by a store manager of banawe, he was so nice,. after that, he told me that i passed,. he asked me to stay and wait for my final intrview, i forgot her name,.. she told me to wait for their tx, bcoz they still need to further evaluate my application.. I had 3 intrviews, is that normal? will i still have the intrview with the District manager?, im really confuse.. help me out plssss…

yess!! nakapasa ko sa 2nd interview ko kahapon. :) thank God. kla ko maghihintay nanaman ako ng 2weeks. sbi kc w8 daw ako for 2weeks pra ievaluate ung mga cnagot ko, pero after 1hour or something, tnxt nko for my final interview on sept. 04. :) buti ang bait nung SM na nag-interview skin. kaya ang ganda nung conversation nmn. :) thanks sa mga tips. :) excited nko for my final interview. hehe:)

upon hiring magbibigay sila ng isang free polo shirt (white or black), and free cap. yun khaki pants wala po sila binibigay sarili mung bili yun. Then you will have one free shirt depending sa promotional season, like ngaun yung color blue then another one sa christmas season:)

i suggest u wear appropriate clothes like slacks and polo shirt if ur a guy and a nice formal top, dress or slacks for the ladies.
They are strict with the attire, I remember my last interview with the district manager at the main office, one of my batchmate wore jeans, top and sandals and got a bad impression with the district manager. I think if u really want to be noticed by your employer and leave a good impression upon you, dress appropriately especially when attending interviews.

Yes, parehas lang ng hiring process ng full time and part time. Dapat part time din lang ako but the DM ask me kung pwde akong mag-full time. You can pass your resume thru jobsdb or sa main office in buendia.. About sa summer job I have no idea.

I passed the final interview today! Contract signing on September 08. :) Thanks for all the help, guys. :D For everyone planning to try out, you just have to be confident and honest with your answers. Talk to them the way you do with your friends, but of course, with common courtesy and respect. Leave a mark on them so that they don’t forget you and will vouch for you during deliberation.

dapat part time lang ako kasi yun lang daw yung opening sabi ng hr nung initial interview, full time contractual na ako, sayang naman kasi kung part time lang, 1 coffee lang yun, hahaha, pero mas swerte yung 2 ko pang kasabay sa SM at DM interview, 6 months yung contract sa kanila, grabeh nga eh! sobrang nainggit ako, hahaha
I believe there’s no age limit and they don’t accept high school grad, at least college level lang.

I think its better if you apply sa jobsdb, they’ll contact you as soon as your qualified, dun kasi ako nag-apply eh, but if you really want to do visit the store then approach na lang the barista sa counter, dun din kasi nagpasa yung friend ko ng form.

Helena: your extension sa contract will depend on your performance and if your store has the budget to keep you on the team. sa store kasi namin last year may contractuals din. 2 sila and hanggang nung january din lang ang contract nila. ayun, hanggang ngayon, 1 year na, they’re still part of the team. also, kung di naman kaya ng budget ng store mo, pero you’ve given excellent performance during your stay, your SM will recommend you for re-hire sa ibang store na kailangan pa ng partners :) karamihan ng contractuals namin last year ay nasa district pa rin. some of them, na-transfer nga lang ng store. tsaka nagshshuffle kasi ng baristas ang mga store. pwede rin na sa ibang district ka naman mapunta. :)

Same thing happened to me so I call them after I received a text from them, Kasi I know I already signed a contract nung Sept 1. Ms. Ma-ann talked to me, sabi nya yung first na pinirmahan natin is incomplete pa, hindi pa daw nakasulat yung date ng start and kung kelan yung end ng contract or yung iba daw wla pang store assignment.

It actually depends eh,
if pumayag ka sa contractual basis, then within 2 weeks ttwagan kn for the 2nd interview.
If not, then it is uncertain, kasi yung nakasabay ko sa initial interview until now hindi pa daw sya tinatawagan, contractual kc yung priority nila this season.
Others naman, nung march-june pa nag-initial, last august lng kinontak for the 2nd interview…
But since hiring talaga sila ngayon, you’ll expect a call within this month.

hi there, i do have barista friends and we really get along well, I’ve just read what olfu have said, uhm on my personal point of view I did apply for the job not just for the ske of having a job, but I intended to apply for me to really gain mooore as in more friends, haha.. m not saying that i don’t have friends, i have plenty, and I relly wanted to learn more bout coffee, the job is really interesting and fun, I just can’t wait to start,hehe
@OLFU, i guess if u really love what ur doing you won’t be afraid of what’s waiting for you ahead, I mean the exams and everything, you choose this job, that’s part of being a barista, you have to know your products well that’s why you must study. It’s a shame if a customer would approach you and ask something and on the other hand you have nothing at hand for you to answer.

also, if you are planning to stay in the company or if you have plans to upgrade to full time, di dapat choosy sa schedule. the more you set your own schedules lalo na kung di ka naman student, choosy ka lang, the more na hindi ikaw ang kukunin at the end of your contract. kailangan kasi ng sense of urgency din. kunwari, may nagkasakit na partner or may emergency, kailangan ng magc-cover ng shift, malamang your SM won’t pick you to sub for the partner kasi choosy ka sa schedule. pero pag student ka naman, ok lang yun. hehe. :P

hi i just want to ask lang sana.. i had my initial interview last month pa..aug 12 to be exact..then i did passed the initial interview.then wait daw ako ng tx or tawag from them..then after 2 days i got a txt mssg from them na they’re updating my application for a certain area and if im ammenable to that magreply ako.. i did call them agd..then i was adviced na wait ako tawag the nxt wik or within the month of august.. so i waited.. e mid na ng sept.. im worrying na.. do you think follow up ko un?ok lang kaya? pls answer my inquiry.thanks!=)

hey want to share my experienced applying in star bucks. i just applied in the nearest sb where i reside, i applied their, tuesday last week i think. I was so dissapointed coz the staff their sad that sb is accepting only 3rd yr above student,im only 2nd year thats time the that im so down but one week later they txt me. . im so happy that time that text me because its my dream to work their honestly. hehe i think its because i have my experienced in work coz i worked in jollibee for about 2 yrs. if i were u guys who dont have the experienced in working just try first fast food like wat i did because i think its a point. I have my interview in tuesday at rustans at 9am i wish i will pass coz u think my english is not as fluent as i know hehe. BASTA wag mawalan ng pagasa sa mga magaaply habang may buhay may pagasa hehe. thanks and goodluck nalang sa atin……

There would be 3 interview and its uncertain kung ilang weeks will it take for you to finish the hiring process. For the initial interview, I suggest use the language you’re comfortable with kasi HR prefer someone who’s confident and could express things easily…,

hindi pa ako nkakapag-training eh…, mauuna kp samen.., Ang alam ko rin 8-5 yung training sa main ofc kahit full or part time. After ka ng makatapos ng 1 week sa main diretso kn rin sa store assignment mo.., Parehas tayo nag-aaral pa rin ako,
Lahat kasi ng req ko sa orientation ko na ipapasa, maghanda kn rin ng 8pcs 1×1 pix mas OK na yung sobra kesa kulang. How many months nga pala contract mo?

@OLFU. salamat! ndi ko pa naaus ung health certificate ko tsaka work permit kc wala akong time. hehehe. sang store ka? kc merong susunod sa store namin sa oct.2 orientation ata nila. contractual ata un. bka isa ka dun. magkastore pla tau. hahaha! :))
@imbaneski. bali aabutin nga ng 2weeks kc depende sa sked na makukuha. ung amin kc ung isang class napunta sa pang 2weeks. bali sa 1st week (mon-sun) 5days ung pinasukan nmin. ung isa dun whole day nmn sa store, tpos ung dalawa off. tpos pang 2nd week (mon-sun) off ng dalawa, tpos the rest sa store na. :) naintindihan moba? haha. basta ganun ung sked nmn. dpende kc yan sa sked na makukuha mo. meron akong kasabay na nag-aaral sia, bali skul muna tpos hapon punta sa class, tpos closing sya sa store. eun. medio nkakapagod ung knia. pero nakakaya nia naman. babae un ha. :))
*my class pa kc yan sa support tpos training sa store na. :) bali sa umaga sa store tpos pupunta na ng support sa hapon per day. ganun. haha!

1wik lang tinext na nila ako agad for the 2nd interview…depende sa location yan na mapaglalagyan sau kaya ung iba nagtatagal bgo twagan or itxt.
Guys grabe experience ko sa 2nd interview ko ang oras kasi 12pm nakarating na ako ng 1:30pm wahehehehe kakahiya talaga panu ba naman kasi ung location tska haaay ang haba ng istorya hiyang hiya ako sa SB kasi kanina pa pla ako inaantay..aun tapos pinagpahinga nia ko for 10 mins binigyan pa ko ng mocca Frappucino..ang baet talaga niya..
ok naman ung interview..wait nalang ako ng susunod na tawag..

clarisse, 50mins.? grabe naman interview un??exaggerated na un ah..hehe wlang interview naabot ng ganung katagal, siguro nagtatagal lang sila sa pagaantay sa interview. tsaka ako lang ung nagiisang inenterview ng store manager that time. cge globe din naman ako txt nalang..pero alm mo kasi iba ibang tao ang nagiinterview satin its up to them na kung anu itatanung hindi parapareho. so ang kailangan mo nalang gawin is to always stay positive at maging comportable ka. ang sagot pinakaimportante kung sa tingin mo nagaalanagan ka sa english den paliwanag mo sa tagalog ng maganda.

bago lang po ako dito sa threading.. i just wanna ask, kase i noticed imbaneski said cla ung las regular hired.. I was interviewed on the very same day by sm and dm, that was last thursday, and as a matter of fact, i received a call just this morning from HR, yes i was hired, oct 8 orientaion agad, no job offer happened.. i asked if its 4 seasonal (contractual in other words), i mean the position na bibigay nila sken, but HR said its for regularization.. so my point is, could HR be mistaken tellin me that? or lets say, is it a hundred percent sure na last batch na cla? im kinda confused, but still its fine though, what im after is working with them.. i could still have my chances right?.. ahm.. cguro i cud clear things up this thursday.. pero im pretty sure of what i have heard, that i was hired for a regular post.. anyway.. i hope i can see some reply to this.. thanks ! ⁿ_ⁿ

@Crookshanks meron din nman ata regular hire after our batch,pero mostly seasonal nlng,un kc ang sabi smin ni angs eh,me ki2lala nyo din xa..meron nga ko kbatch na contractual part time,kme twag smin regular part time..2 lng sming ang for full time..pero khit contractual pwede ka pa din ma absorb pra ma regular,xmpre depnde sa per4mance mo..lam ko sa contract signing,dun mllman pg contractual o hndi..pg mrmi k pnirmhan nd ka contractual.kc my mga papanotary pa un,dhil my bond nga na 6 mos..ung mga contracrual mismo contract lng pprmhan nila..gets ^^

hey i hope you dont mind.. may question pa ko bout sa bond thing and sa store assignment, like in my case sa ayala hub ako na-assign, the store is very good kase its big and hindi ganu queing not like sa malls, but preferrably i wanted to be in sm north, kase its convinient for commuters like us db? base sa threading na to, seems like sa gnagawang stabucks sky garden ka deploy ryt? thing is, may chance kea na if i’ll request to be transferred there like after a month or two it’ll be possible? i dont know if your the ryt person to ask bout this but im just taking my chances.. hehe
and about sa bond, if in case di mo ma fulfill yung bond for example you needed to go somewhere far like sa abroad ano keang mga consequences? can u give me an idea please?

salamat talaga.. may plan naman talga ko magstay.. first hand, gusto ko talaga yung job desc at yung company itself.. actually i love starbucks..as in a lot.. kaso there are some things na di ko maiwasan.. like for exmple.. a petition from a relative somewhere outside d country.. like the visa is being processed.. pero thing is yung expiry ng visa is after 6 mos pa so sa tingin ko la na cguro prob dun.. well, i just i hope hehe..

mm..ako din may tanong,ganito kasi may trabaho ako ngayon,tue-friday lang 9AM-6PM,iniisip ko talaga (for ilang months na) kung mag-aapply ba ako kasi baka hindi pwede yung sked ko especially sa training (training agad?syempre dapat POSITIVE! hehehe)..ang tanong ko ay:

and to those asking na ano dapat isagot or kung pwede mag-tagalog?..im not really sure sa mag-iinterview..pero as a general rule or yung parang acceptable..if the interviewer asks you in english,response will be english and if you’re asked in filipino,then you can answer in filipino..I was a former HR for recruitment and plus sa amin kapag ganito ang ginagawa ng applicants :) just a tip lang po :))

I am also a barista but not from starbucks… I am from Cordillera Coffee, sa SM Baguio… may branch din sa marikina pero ewan ko lang kung meron pa ngaun dahil sa baha..
mmmmmmmmm… I am also planning to apply sa starbucks but I was thinking about the salary… xempre iba rate sa baguio kya ask lang ko lang sa inyo kung magkano ung basic monthly salary dun… and one thing more, madali ba ung promotion dun?? I mean if you have a finished degree, mlaki ba ung chance na mpromote in higher posotion or whatever… thank you guys!!!

hindi ka naman agad ittrain pag n-hire kn.. unfortunately you are not allowed to choose the time nor date of your training, kapag ntapos kn ng training dun na pwde isunod ung time availability mo…, when it comes sa interview it doesn’t matter if english or tagalog yung gamitin mo, your work attitude is all that matters.
To everyone who is planning to apply, you may pass the resume sa mga store pinapadala naman sya sa support eh, or if you want to be sure tlga sa main ofc na mismo, sa buendia mrt hanapin nyo lang yung urban bldg., don na lang kayo magpass, usually kung qualified ka within a week makaka-received kn ng txt from the HR.
we are also not allowed to mention the salary even to other partners.. =), but the basic is above minimum…,

My only question is how will the training work? I have no training whatsoever in baristaing<—- whatever you call it… making blended coffee drinks na lang. Im a freshman in DLSU so im really really really interested in working part time. thanks! all your stories are inspiring! HAHAHA :))

This Oct 19 lang me na 1st interview,and so happy kase i made it out of 18 people,3 lng kame nakapasa,and now am waiting for my second interview…and my excitement killing me!LOL…Alam mo?,di ba may paper na bigay after the 1st interview whether favorable or unfavorable. Basta mga situational questions yung mga tinatanong sa 2nd interview.., what are the challenges you’ll face if you work on starbucks? What if’s and how do you deal with irate customers? Mga ganung questions. They’ll try to test your attitude sa work.

Tol dont give-up,sino ba may BackGround ako nga wala rin?LOL. course ko sobrang layo para maging Barista ,marami lng cgurong applicant sa batch mo kaya medyo na tagalan,pero hindi ibig sabihin hindi ka qualify,pag-ikaw tinangap mo na hindi ka nga qualify sa sarili mo,e…sino pa tatangap sayo di ba,kung ayaw nila sayo hindi mo problema yun,problema na nila yun,alam mo naman na you have the skills and the fact na you pass a resume to them means you have guts to make things done.If you will never believe & Try you will never know. Good luck Man.

yes, peak-season now ang starbucks, and by now lahat ng store busy na sa Christmas rush and complete na yung manpower. Wala na ring time yung support and stores para maghire and mag-train ng barista. Even if magpasa kayo ng resume, next year na kayo tatawagan.

Would someone happen to know if Starbucks is still hiring at the moment. Anyone from starbucks? hi guys! I just emailed my resume about 2 days ago and Im just waiting for a response. I hope i can get a call or text from them asap. I think it would be super fun to work in starbucks, and did i say i looove coffee? Exciting! I grab coffee at Starbucks every weekend with my sister and a cousin, walang mintis. I just love this place!
