Canon EOS 500D (Rebel T1i) – Philippines
Canon has just announced the 15.1 megapixel EOS 500D (Rebel T1i in the US).
The new DSLR shoots HD movie at up to full 1080p resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels) but only does so at 20 frames per second. Lower shooting resolutions of 720p or VGA will also be available to get the most from your memory card. It pops out .mov files in the H.264 codec.
It goes up to ISO 3200 in regular mode with two extra emergency settings of 6400 and 12800.
Specs highlight:
- 3″, 920,000 pixels LCD, with a “Live View” mode
- 95% viewfinder coverage
- HDMI-out
- self-cleaning sensor
- face-detection
- APS-C sized sensor measures 30mm diagonally
The 500D will cost just $800 for the body and for $900 in a kit with the EF-S18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS lens and will be available in May 2009.

napakaganda! Eto na kaya ang pinakamataas na resolution sa digicam?
2 years ago lang pinakamataas lang ata eh 10.0 megapixels ngayon 15.1 whoooo!
Ang ganda ng shots nito no more pixilized images! Yun nga lang ganda rin ng presyo.

lol. lower pixels doesnt mean lower class of camera. wala sa pixels yan. people who like to show off usually mahilig sa matataas na pixel. wala yan sa pixel. nasa skills mo yan as a photographer kahit gano pa kaganda at high end camera mo. :)

wow galing naman ng 500D, bakit nde pa ginawang 25mp, lamang pa rin ang sony alpha900 which has 24 megapixels. Canon is canon… pero tama si Hallo nasa mata ng photographer yan. ALso matters sa LENSE, mas mahal pa ang lense kesa body.
Kung $900 ang kit, mura na yan bili na kau Meron na bang 30 megapixels?? nde ko ata alam yun ah hehehe

mura na yan at 900$. sa europe malamang 900euro instead of dollar.
24mega alpha 900 is not comparable with this one because alpha 900 is a full frame camera. pang-profi na yun.

yung mga kadalasan bumibili nto, ginagawang pang friendster lang, para masabing maganda yung camera nila. tao nga naman, basta mataas yung MP ng camera maganda na bibilhin na, nasta my sounds and sticker na ferrari yung motor maganda na makikigaya narin, basta naka lowerd and maraming sticker yung kotse and maingay maganda na and makikigaya narin, pambihira nga naman oh.

pinaka walang kwentang dslr na na experience ko SONY, una, mahal, pangalawa, mahal, pangatlo mahal, pang apat mahal, ehh yung presyo ng SONY DSLR na alpha pi chupapi eh magagandang above entry level dslr na sa nikon yun ehhh, baka nga my lense kapa, tapos hirap pang gamitin. and besides, wala pa kong nakikitang PROFESSIONAL Photographer sa ofis na gumagamit ng SONY ALPHA pi chupapi.

in fairness koljak maganda nga photo mo pag yan gamit mo, kahit pang prendster lang. but believe me maadik ka kakakuha ng pictures!!!!
ako ok na ko sa sony alpha 350, 14MP not bad huh, i dont want to belong as mga profi, sa hobiest lang ako belong :-)

in due time once sony improves their camera group, me makikita ka ng profi na gumagamit, kahit pang-men’s magazine man lang……

what does this “video” thing sa 500D matter? kung photographer ka, you do pictures. kung videographer ka naman, you do video. kung san ang passion mo, dun ka. i couldn’t care less sa “video” ng 500D. wala naman akong galit sa 500D nito, pero, sa mga photography enthusiasts, EOS 450D will do. sumpain ang kumontra sakin. hahaha.

awtz! haha well personally masmaganda nga kulay ng nikon cameras and marami akong kilala na d60 binibili. oh well papel, solve na ko sa 400D, mahirap ng mag-jump ship ng sistema…hahaha pang hobby hobby lang naman eh!

Some professional or well-known photographers will say na “a good portrait ay hindi sa camera, but sa pagkuha.” Bago lang ako sa world of photography and self thought lang lahat, but choosing a camera, I would go for Nikon.

am a pro mga bro, it depends on the photographer’s eye not on the camera, or how high the fixels are, what matters most is the lens that took the best shot, but of course with your skills.
