Former President Joseph “Erap” Estrada has postponed the formal announcement of his presidential bid, which was originally scheduled today in light of the devastation caused by recent typhoons — Ondoy and Pepeng.

Erap’s running mate will be Makati City Mayor Jejomar Binay. The formal announcement of the Erap-Binay tandem will be on October 21, 2009 in Tondo, Manila. Estrada also said he will have a complete line-up of senators, congressmen, and local candidates under his Puwersa ng Masang Pilipino (PMP) ticket.

Senator Mar Roxas formally accepted the offer of Sen. Noynoy Aquino to become his running mate in the 2010 presidential elections.

“Taos-puso ko pong tinatanggap ang hamon na isulong ang tunay na reporma sa ating bansa. Taos-puso ko pong tinatanggap ang responsibilidad na maging kabalikat ni Noynoy sa kanyang laban para sa pagbabago” he said. The acceptance of the offer was held yesterday morning at Club Filipino, San Juan.

Meanwhile, Sen. Kiko Pangilinan announced the withdrawal of his vice presidential bid in the 2010 elections to give way and support the tandem of Aquino and Roxas.

Defense Secretary Gilberto “Gibo” Teodoro Jr. was chosen on Wednesday to be the standard bearer in 2010 presidential elections of the Lakas-Kampi-Christian Muslim Democrats administration coalition.

Teodoro beat rival Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairman Bayani Fernando, in the secret balloting conducted at the Edsa Shangri-la Hotel in Mandaluyong City. Fernando reportedly walked out after his motion to defer the voting was rejected.

ABS-CBN: Willie Revillame did not violate KBP Broadcast Code of Ethics

ABS-CBN defended Wowowee TV host Willie Revillame, through a letter written by Head of Channel 2 Mega Manila Cory Vidanes in reply to the complaint filed by Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) Consoliza Laguardia with the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP).

“It appears, therefore, that Mr. Revillame’s issue was with the inappropriateness of Wowowee and the funeral cortege being shown together, and not with the funeral cortege itself. While it may be argued that Mr. Revillame could have expressed his thoughts in a better way and that it would have been better to raise them privately, instead of the public manner in which he did, such was not disrespectful of the dead and does not constitute an offense under the KBP Broadcast Code of the Philippines.” reads part of Cory Vidanes’ reply to Laguardia’s complaint.

Laguardia said that Willie violated Sec. 3 of Presidential Decree 1986 [being objectionable and contrary to good customs and tradition] and the Broadcast Code of Ethics of KBP when he demanded the removal of the inset video of former President Cory Aquino’s cortege.

Manny Villar offers senatorial slot for Willlie Revillame

Senator Manny Villar is offering a senatorial slot for controversial Wowowee host Willie Revillame should he decide to run for senator in the 2010 elections.

Villar is the president of the Nacionalista Party (NP) and as of now, Rep. Teofisto “TG” Guingona III and lawyer Adel Tamano are the party’s only sure bets for the Senate. “Oo, naman, very qualified naman si Willie, wala naman akong nakikitang problema kay Willie. Yun ay isang bagay na dapat niyang pagisipan.” Villar said.

Revillame is under fire once again after he asked to cut the live streaming of the late President Cory’s cortege, which was being shown simultaneously on Wowowee through an inset video.

Malacanang apologizes for pullout of Cory’s security

Kris Aquino revealed on showbiz talk show The Buzz on Sunday, that last month, Malacañang pulled out two of Cory Aquino’s security escorts, whom she identified as Mel and Chris.

The military later admitted to have wrongly sent a notice to the former president and that the pullout was a “bureaucratic slip-up.” All former presidents are entitled to security under an executive order issued in 1966 and under General Headquarters Circulars issued in 1988 and 2003.

House Minority Leader Francis Escudero and Taguig-Pateros Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano, however, said the military security detail for them and other opposition leaders had also been pulled out.

Meanwhile, President Arroyo on Monday reportedly apologized to the Aquinos for the pullout of Cory’s security detail before her death.

Audio CD of alleged convo among Lolit Solis, Kho and Belo

Katrina Halili’s lawyer, Atty. Raymund Palad made public an audio tape/recording that allegedly contained conversations among Lolit Solis, Dr. Hayden Kho Jr., his mother Irene, Kho’s lawyers led by Lorna Kapunan, Dr. Vicki Belo, and public relations practitioner Reli German.

The meeting was conducted apparently to plan Kho and Belo’s next move as the video controversy raged on, a plan dubbed as “Project Angels and Demons” with Lolit Solis as the orchestrator.

Meanwhile, Solis remains unfazed by criticisms. “Kung sino man ang naglalabas niyan [audio recording], kung akala nila makakatulong sa kanila, fine, make my day. Kung ang balak nila sirain ako, wala ka nang masisira sa akin sirang-sira na ako,” she said.

Freddie Aguilar won’t apologize to Charice and Arnel for monkey remark

Singer Freddie Aguilar has no plans of issuing an apology for his comment that Charice (Pempengco) and Arnel Pineda (Journey band frontman) only proved what foreigners had said about Filipinos, being likened to monkeys because they would only mimic the styles and songs of other international artists.

“Bakit ako mag-a-apologize? I am speaking out the truth so why do I have to apologize? It’s my opinion and I am entitled to one. I am fighting for the truth,” he reportedly said.

“Sa mga nagre-react sa akin ngayon negatively, hindi ko kayo masisisi pero sana ay mamulat na tayo. Manggagaya ang marami sa ating mga Pinoy kaya kailangang magbago na tayo. Mahirap ang buhay pero mas hihirap kung magpapatuloy pa tayo sa panggagaya. Nawawala ang ating national identity kaya paano tayo paniniwalaan sa labas ng bansa? Wala talagang tutulong sa atin.” he added.

Katrina Halili unmoved by Hayden Kho’s apology

Hayden Kho has said sorry for his actions after admitting responsibility for the videos featuring himself with various women.

He denied, however, uploading the videos on the Internet and their reproduction on DVDs. “This incident has had a mental and emotional effect on my being – as well as, I am sure, on those who find themselves as victims of this episode. I recognize that the root cause of this deserves deeper internal analysis, therefore I have been undergoing professional counseling since December,” part of his statement said.

Meanwhile, Katrina Halili seemed unmoved with Kho’s apology and will continue her legal battle against him and those who uploaded the video. Her home network, GMA-7 expressed support for her and is confident that she will emerge a better, stronger person.

Sen. Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. was outraged on Tuesday during his privilege speech over the alleged video of Katrina Halili and Dr. Hayden Kho that is now being downloaded from the Internet.

The actor-turned-politician branded the video as disgusting. “Isa lang ang masasabi ko ka-manyakan ito. Makikita natin si Dr. Hayden Kho mismo ang nag-ayos ng camera…makikita ang kasama niya si Katrina Halili…kung mahal mo ang isang tao bakit mo gagawin ‘yan?” he said.

He also called on the Professional Regulation Commission or PRC to revoke the license of Kho and bar him from practicing medicine.
