Pop Princess Sarah Geronimo now has a Christmas album titled “Your Christmas Girl” featuring the carrier single of the same title.

It also includes classics such as “Give Love on Christmas Day” and “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas.” Sarah is also busy preparing for her concert on November 7, 2009 dubbed as “Record Breaker” at the Araneta Coliseum. “Tapos na kami, okay na lahat yung repertoire. Kumbaga, mas involved ako ngayon sa pagpili ng mga kanta tsaka sa mga gagawing dance numbers nagfi-feed din ako. Abangan din nila yung mga surprise guests namin dito.” she said.

Christian Bautista gives his own renditions of Jose Mari Chan’s songs in his newest album titled Romance Revisited: The Love Songs of Jose Mari Chan released under Universal Records.

“I’ve always dreamed of singing Jose Mari Chan’s songs.” Christian said. This album also features his collaboration with Songbird Regine Velasquez, Lani Misalucha, Jose Mari Chan, and Sarah Geronimo.

Singing Bee’s Apple Chiu releases debut album

25-year-old Singing Bee (ABS-CBN) mainstay Apple Chiu releases her self-titled debut album under Polyeast Records.

It features the carrier single is “Sa Kanya,” which was originally sung by Ogie Alcasid. The album contains ten tracks, eight of which are OPM classic ballads and two originals.

Pinoy Idol Gretchen Espina has released her debut album titled “Shining Through” under Sony Music with the carrier single “Kasalanan Nga Ba?.”

The album features Gretchen’s collaboration with some of today’s seasoned song writers, which include Ogie Alcasid, Arnenio Mendaros, Totop Suzara, Hannah Romawac and Cecile Azarcon-Inocentes. It also has remakes of OPM hit songs.

CBCP wants to ban Blanktape’s “Banana” song

The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) wants to ban some pop songs from radio stations, which includes the latest hit “Banana” song by Blanktape and “Nagmamahal ako ng bakla.”

Caloocan Bishop Deogracias Iñiguez, who also heads the Committee on Public Affairs of CBCP said that the lyrics of those songs have double meaning. “Kailangan itigil na ang paglabas ng mga ganitong uri ng musika. Those should be banned. Dinudumihan nito ang isip ng mga kabataan instead of promoting the concept of morality.” he said.

The bishop also called on music composers to think first of the negative effects of the lyrics to the young listeners in composing their piece.

Pupil band launches Wildlife: Special Edition album

Pupil band composed of Ely Buendia, Yan Yuzon, Wendell Garcia and Dok Sergio launched their Wildlife: Special Edition album last July 10 at the SM North Edsa Skydome.

Wild Life is the band’s second album released in 2007 and this special edition album contains a 5-track acoustic set of the “Eye in the Big Sky,” 3 of the album’s original demo, 4 of the album’s music videos and loads of wallpapers among other things.

“Because ang daming istorya na nangyari sa Wildlife na parang we didn’t want all of that to put to waste,” Yani explained on why the band chose to re-record the said album instead of coming up with a new one.

Kamikazee releases “Long Time Noisy” album

Members of OPM band Kamikazee are busy promoting their third album titled “Long Time Noisy” released under Universal Records.

It contains 13 songs with its carrier single “Wala.” Other songs include “Lalandiin,” “I Love You Ninang,” “Eschooos Me” and “Meron Akong Ano.” The said album is Kamikazee’s follow-up to their double platinum album “Maharot” released in 2006.

Aiza Seguerra to release 2nd live album

Child-star-turned-singer Aiza Seguerra is set to release another live album under Star Records this July.

It is basically a recording of Aiza’s performance with her band held last June 26 at the Teatrino Promenade in Greenhills, San Juan. The songs they did were their usual set list during live gigs and performances. It includes songs such as “Kiss From A Rose,” “Ipagpatawad Mo,” “Every Time,” “Crazy Little Thing Called Love,” “Paglisan,” “Bilanggo,” and “Anything For You.” The album also includes a tribute to Michael Jackson with her own rendition of “Man in the Mirror.”

Pinoy Pop Superstar Season 1 1st runner-up Brenan Espartinez just released his self-titled album, Brenan under Bellhaus Entertainment Inc.

“It talks about a man’s point of view about love, getting hurt and moving on,” Brenan said. It features 8 tracks including a revival of the Side A love song “Forevermore” and his first carrier single, “Di Nagpaalam.”
