PRC Midwifery Board Exam Results November 2009

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) has announced that 3,110 have passed the Midwife Licensure Examination given by the Board of Midwifery in Manila, Baguio, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legazpi, Tacloban, Tuguegarao and Zamboanga last November 14 and 15, 2009.

PRC LET Results October 2009 (Teachers)

A total of 8,045 elementary teachers out of 43,086 examinees (18.67%), 26 Accelerated Teacher Education Program (A.T.E.P.) graduates out of 146 examinees (17.81%) and 10,792 secondary teachers out of 38,339 examinees (28.15%) passed the PRC LET or licensure examination for teachers held last October 4, 2009.

Edu Manzano for Vice President

TV game show host and actor Edu Manzano will run for vice-president under the Lakas-Kampi-CMD banner.

Manzano, also the former Optical Media Board (OMB) chairman will be the running mate of the party’s standard-bearer Gibo Teodoro. The announcement was made by Interior Secretary Ronaldo Puno in a press conference at Shangri-La Makati on Friday. “The person who has accepted the challenge of standing beside Secretary Teodoro in the quest to become the next president of the Republic of the Philippines and the next vice-president of the Republic of the Philippines, no other than former OMB chairman Edu Manzano,” Puno reportedly said.

PRC Chemical Engineering Board Exam results November 2009

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced that 324 examinees passed the Chemical Engineer Licensure Examination given by the Board of Chemical Engineering this November 2009.

Typhoon Santi in the Philippines

Santi has intensified into a typhoon and has entered Philippine seas, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Wednesday.

It is said to affect the Philippines Friday evening or Saturday morning and is expected to hit either Central or Southern Luzon. Santi is also likely to become a “super typhoon” as it is now packing winds of 120 kilometers per hour (kph). Pagasa placed Polilio Island under storm signal No. 2 while areas under signal No. 1 were: Isabela, Ifugao, Aurora, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Rizal, Quezon, Camarines Norte, and Camarines Sur.

Comelec Registration Hours is Extended

Starting October 22 until October 30, 2009 registration hours in Comelec (Commission on Elections) field offices will be open from 8AM to 9PM and registration on October 31, which is the last day for registration, will be open until 12 midnight.

The extension was made in order to accommodate those who will register at the last minute. The poll body also clarified that they will no longer extend the registration days because they need the remaining time of this year to finalize the list of voters to avoid shortages. As of July 2009, there are a total of 45,638,243 registered voters for the upcoming 2010 elections.

Greenbelt 5 (Makati City) watch store robbery

Six men armed with high-powered firearms staged a daring heist at the Rolex store on the ground floor of Greenbelt 5 in Makati City before noon Sunday.

One of the unidentified suspects was instantly killed after Taguig City Mayor Sigfredo “Freddie” Tinga’s close-in security aides, identified as PO1 Efren Ceniza Jr. and SPO1 Cesar Tiglao, responded to the robbery. Tinga was having lunch with relatives in a nearby restaurant and his escorts were just securing the vicinity of the restaurant when they caught the robbers in the act. The shootout lasted for about three minutes before the robbers fled on two getaway vehicles with no plate numbers. The robbers reportedly were able to cart away an undetermined number of watches.

Plane crashes in Las Pinas City

A propeller-driven DC-3 cargo plane with no. RPC-550 crashed around 12:30PM into an abandoned warehouse in Villa Fidela Subdivision in Barangay Aldana, Plaza Quezon, Las Piñas City killing four of the seven people onboard.

The plane owned by the Victoria Asia Air Services was trying to make an emergency landing when the incident happened. At least 14 houses were also reportedly damaged by the crash.

Typhoon Ramil coming to the Philippines

Typhoon Ramil intensified as it continued to close in on Philippine territory Friday morning, Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

In its 11AM bulletin, Pagasa said Ramil was estimated at 1,300 km east of Bicol with maximum sustained winds of 75 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph. The 18th storm to enter the Philippines this year is threatening to make landfall in areas in Luzon that have been previously hit by two devastating storms — Ondoy and Pepeng. Although there is a also a chance that it will move in the direction of Taiwan. Ramil is expected to further intensify before it enters the Philippine area of responsibility around 11PM Friday or early morning of Saturday.

Baguio City Update: Kennon Road now passable but with traffic schedule

Baguio City has been isolated from other parts of Luzon since landslides and floods triggered by tropical typhoon “Pepeng” blocked and damaged the three main access roads — Marcos Highway, Naguilian Road and Kennon Road.

Kennon Road is now reportedly partially passable but public works officials have set traffic schedule to manage the flow of vehicles to and from the city.

Vehicles going down from Baguio City to La Union are allowed only from 5AM to 12NN while motorists going to Baguio are allowed only from 12NN to 5PM.
