Chip Tsao offers apology

Hong Kong columnist Chip Tsao who called the Philippines a “nation of servants” in an article posted on HK Magazine’s website, made a public apology over Hong Kong-based private television network ATV.

The following is excerpt of Mr. Chip Tsao’s interview:

“The “servant” is a good term. A Hong Kong government official is a civil servant. We are all servants to God, right? I’m now aware that I’ve crossed the line and I offer my public apology… The article was never intended to be insulting to the Filipino domestic workers… Has anyone been deeply upset, it was never my intention and I feel sorry” Tsao was quoted as saying.

The Filipino community in Hong Kong, however is reportedly not buying Tsao’s apology and that their protest on Sunday would still push through.
