David Archuleta has Filipino lineage?
There’s a lot of buzz going around that American Idol season 7 contestant David Archuleta has Filipino lineage.
This has yet to be confirmed on the show or on the official idol web site. According to the google’s cached page of TV.com’s page of David Archuleta, David is “Hispanic Filipino” but as of this posting, it has been changed to “Hispanic American“. We’ve also read that a local television station here in the Philippines reported that he is Filipino but didn’t elaborate on the report’s source. The reason that we want to know is because if he’s really Filipino then we should feature his performances here on Mukamo just like what we do with Ramiele Malubay (who is definitely Filipino). Anyway, here’s David Archuleta’s rendition of John Lennon’s Imagine. But Filipino or not, David is a serious contender for the title of American Idol 7.

he’s good based from what i’ve watched in the past weeks of american idol he was one of the great contender…..but i think he’s gay…..!11based from his moves the way he laughed…that was just a speculation…how most of my friends are gay and some our closet gay their attitude and doings as well have the same things with my friends.

who cares if he’s not filipino. If he is one, then he should be proud just like Ramielle. If he’s embarrassed by it then too bad–filipinos are really great singers.
but i have to say.
Ramielle is doing a great job being proud to be filipina. Jasmine nor Camille Velasco didnt really tell the whole world that they have Filipino blood(they were more into the Hawaiian thing). At least this time–Ramielle is proud to represent not only the Filipinos…but take note the Asian community.Props to Ramielle– The United States is full of Asian people.

I’m a Filipino and proud to be one. I know how nationalistic we are and become even more proud of those with Filipino lineage making a name in the international arena. But I sort of feel a bit embarrassed for those who claim that so-and-so is a Filipino when in fact he is not. Before making a claim, please confirm it. Let’s grow up.

if david a. really has filipino blood then that’s great, but really, it all comes down to whoever can sing best and who can win the crowd. plus i don’t think that the “david a.” who posted some of his/her comments on here is the real deal, so try not to think of david that way. I’m proud to be Filipino. It would be nice for Ramiele to win (pinoy pride!) but I do have to be honest and say that I am rooting for David because I think he has a very wonderful voice + he is also overflowing with charisma. in any case, may the best guy/girl on AI win!

David’s mom is 100% Honduran but his dad is a red headed Caucasian. The funny thing is that the last name Archuleta comes from the Basque region of Spain. The first settlers with that last name started arriving in the America’s during the 1500’s. Some settled in South America and in the U.S. region that is now New Mexico, later they spread to areas such as New Orleans, California, Colorado and Utah. He’s more Hispanic than his folks even know.

what does it matter if he’s filipino or not jeez. in the end we’re all the same anyway. i don’t get why some people get super excited to find out if a famous or a rising star has filipino lineage even if it’s just 1percent or something, can’t they find anyone to praise in the country anymore? national artists anyone? why praise someone as bringing the philippines glory when that person was obviously raised elsewhere with a different background and can barely speak tagalog. i don’t think it’s considered un-nationalism if he barely acknowledges he’s lineage since he’s a citizen of a different country and therefore serves a different nation.

Some people should seriously grow up. It has been confirmed that David Archuleta has no Filipino lineage at all in him, so we should just stop criticizing him for ‘trying to hide his roots’. What has he to hide, when he has none at all? He is Honduran-American. It’s one thing to be proud of our Filipino blood, but like one poster said, it is pretty embarrassing to other people when we keep on claiming that this person is Filipino, when it’s not even verified at all. People who come from other countries may not scream their nationality out loud, but that does not necessarily mean that they’re ashamed as to where they came from. We’re accusing an innocent and talented young star for something that he didn’t do. And given the status and his young age, he is pretty humble.
Also, isn’t it obvious enough that david a. is an impersonator? First of all, the impostor has bad grammar, and David would surely think about spell-checking before posting something online that the public would gain access to. Also, David Archuleta (the real one) would even probably be too busy to go online and answer these controversies.

I don’t know if you just wanted attention for having said what you said. Being Filipino does not define from where you come from it is how you deal with it. I live in Dubai cause my dad is one of the few Filipino Pilots in the Emirates Airline. Not that I’m bragging but being a filipino has a lot of advantages. I’m full filipino and yet I’m one of the best in an International School here. I act, sing, and dance on stage. My theatre instructor even told my parents that I can be an all-around which means I can be a triple threat. Filipinos are highly appreciated in Abroad. I even have friends that are in Disney Hollywood. Even in the West End Stage in the UK. And I’m still 16 years old. And with all I’ve said, I think it’s time for everyone to start appreciating us Filipino. ‘Cause even if my lineage is Filipino, Spanish, and Chinese. I am still proud to be Filipino!

haha. honestly and seriously all of you guys are over reacting. duh. we all know that he doesnt have the filipino blood or lineage. he was born in honduras and its too far away from phils. so stop it. it is just a fiction not a fact. if you still insists that he has it, then show a proof. and OBVIOUSLY, the DAVID speaking up there was WAY TOO POSER and faker. haha :D yer all fooled by him? omg. he’s in the phils now, i think? and i guess he was too BUSY for his shows, guestings and concert that he’ll be replying on this page?
