The Department of Trade and Industry recently issued an order prohibiting stores from imposing surcharge on credit card, debit card, and automated teller machine card transactions.

Department Administrative Order 10 states that the price for cash and credit card transactions should be the same. Prior to the release of this order, retail stores that accept card transactions charge their customers between 5 to 10% in surcharges.
