Evan O’Dorney: 2007 Scripps National Spelling Bee champion

A 13-year-old from Danville, California won the 80th annual spelling bee.

He aced the word “serrefine” Thursday night to beat Nate Gartke of Spruce Grove, Alberta, Canada. He won a trophy, the $35,000 prize, a $5,000 scholarship, a $2,500 savings bond and a set of reference works.
