Francis Magalona to receive Presidential Medal of Merit award

Francis Magalona, who succumbed to leukemia last Friday is set to receive a posthumous Presidential Medal of Merit Award from President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo for promoting nationalism through his music.
Some of his hit songs that instill love of country among the youth were “Mga Kababayan”, “Man from Manila”, “Ito Ang Gusto Ko”, “Three Stars and a Sun” and “Kaleidoscope World.”
Dangerous Drugs Board Chairman Vicente “Tito” Sotto III will reportedly facilitate the awarding of the medal to Magalona. It will be awarded at any time convenient to his family.
