  1. doktor ng bayan Says:

    To my fellow PinoyMD’s,

I am Martin D Bautista and I am running for the
Philippine Senate. I graduated from the UP College of
Medicine in 1989. I completed my Internship, Residency
in Internal Medicine, Fellowship in Gastroenterology
at the State University of New York, in Brooklyn from
1990-1996. I certified in the American Board of
Internal Medicine in 1994. From 1996 to 2006, my wife
(who is a pulmonologist) and I practiced in rural
    Oklahoma. We have 4 daughters.

The odds are indeed long and the poltical situation in
our country appears to be irredeemably corrupted.

For too long however, well-meaning citizens who lead
comfortable, secure and private lives have been scared
off by the immorality, filth and danger of a system
that has always zealously protected the interests of
our traditional polticians, meaning those dynasties
that treat politics as a family livelihood project and
see politics as a way to make a comfortable living.
This would be fine if we lived in say, the US, where
corruption likewise exists but where there is general
access to toilets and potable water (28% of Filipinos
do not); there is access to anti-hypertensives and
diabetes meds (Pagdanganan 2006 survey: 80% cannot
afford meds); access to food (yes many many Filipinos
still go hungry involuntarily) …..you are well aware
of the terrible realities but when confronted with the
idea that people continue to die every single day
because of this poisoned political situation you will
    be moved to do something.

For too long, we have defaulted on our poltical
responsibilities to family dynasties. We have allowed
them to speak for us and we have allowed them to shape
public policies that have resulted in the conditions
we now face today. Small wonder then if you realize
that the family agenda takes precedence over the
common good, but this is part of human nature. I do
not claim to be more moral than anybody nor do I claim
to be without sin, all that I am claiming is that I am
prepared to offer whatever talents I may have in order
    to promote the common good.

Leadership is mostly about problem solving. An
ordinary citizen in the Philippines does not have
access to pertinent information and data that are
necessary to arrive at enlightened decisions. This is
one reason why I am running for the Senate.

Leadership is about inspiring other people to unite
towards common goals. Not having come from a prominent
and wealthy family, I had to leave our country in
order to become financially independent. During the
course of 17 years in the US, I learned many lessons,
took care of my family and I prepared for my return. I
am convinced that the best education will not be found
in Harvard but rather in having to live alone in a
foreign land and being left to sink or swim on your
own wits. I want our countrymen to appreciate and to
gain inspiration from the countless sacrfices that
millions of law-abiding, diligent, honest, hard
working and patriotic Filipinos all over the world do
every single day to keep our country afloat (2007
budget: PhP 1.1 trillion 2006 Remittances through
    banks PhP 650 billion).

I know that each one of us strives to help our country
and we all continually look for other ways with which
to help out. I just feel that politics,
notwithstanding all the lethal corruption, remains the
most effective path to promote the common good.

If you look at the choices for the May elections, you
will not see any difference between those who present
themselves as “administration” or “opposition” . Same
names, same historical self-serving agendas. Where
have all these names and experiences brought us? We
were the second best in Asia 50 years ago, now we are
    the second to the last.

I joined Ang Kapatiran because I agree with its
    priorities: moral principles over political
expediency; preferential option to the poor and
vulnerable; common good over the demands of special
interests; culture of life and peace over death and
violence. Permanent reform will require a profound
moral change in our national character.

I invite all of you to join me. I am personally
willing to bet everything material that I possess that
if we ordinary citizens were to become aware that the
power to change our country lies in each of us, then
we can all work together in redeeming our Philippines.
All the political dynasties with their innumerable
guns, armies of goons, unlimited gold, Comelec will
not stop an idea whose time has come.

    Martin D Bautista

    dignidad.

We should not vote mainly for the party but instead vote for a person you think would do
good for our country. As what one of our statesman said “my loyalty with my party ends
when my loyalty to my country begins”. As of now, I haven’t decided yet who to vote - only
a handful of candidates came to my mind [arroyo, escudero, cayetano]. Lets not vote who
are popular or who indorses them. Lets stick to the issues and not to the politics. And
for those former senators and congressmen, lets determine who make laws that will ben efit
our financial and social lives. pangilinan - authored the law making children below 15
yrs old who committed a crime not liable whether criminal or civil liability. what will he
think if his daughters or relative becomes a victim to such juvenile offenders; recto -
authored the e-vat law. Vote wisely!!

The province of Zamboanga del Norte does not have a single GO candidate. How will you be represented? Sa umpisa may bawas na kayo. There are two candodates for governor one is Lakaa, the incumbent is KamPI. This is the only incident that TEAM UNITY is divided. But they both carry TEAM UNITY. That is a lot of advantage for the administration.
Another are is Region 7 where there are no opposition running for the local heads.
It is very sad most of our voters in the provinces are illiterate. Without the local opposition the senators will lack representation. What are their chances?
You may cry daya! na naman.
I believe you must organize a real opposition all the way to the barangays.
    THat is only my observation.
    Good Luck!

What genuine opposition are you talking about? All I see are genuine trapos, genuine brats, genuine political butterflies, genuine scions of political clans, and genuine oppositors of Gloria. Do they really care for the country? Will they really represent our interest? Are their families really that clean especially the young ones whose fathers served Marcos? Cayetano and Escudero talk too much. Sabi nga sa tagalog ang tubig na matining ay malalim. Think of the future. If they really have a case against the first family sue them in court. If they have a case against Gloria wait for her term to expire and then send her to JAIL by filing cases against her. Can’t wait til her term expire? Then give us a better alternative. The fake opposition can’t even agree with the constitutional succession, they don’t even want Noli to replace Gloria what more if they were the ones to rule this country? They are on the side of JUSTICE, TRUTH AND FAIR PLAY? Then why side with Erap, the Military Adventurists, the Left, the Right, even the self righteous clergy of the Catholic Church? Victory at all cost? Then divide and rule again? JUAN KAILAN KA MATUTUTO. Patatagin muna natin ang pamahalaan at ang sistema nito, baguhin ang ating sarili. Ito ang mainam na solusyon. In the meantime we need a united congress. Aren’t you tired of legislative investigations in aid of legislation? Do we still need a third impeachment that will just create division and chaos?

    to all candidates,
have the heart to truly serve our people. i’m
having a hard time thinking of how you can spend
up to 300 million just for your campaign when
many of our fellow filipinos are suffering from
hunger. paano niyo maaatim na marami ang walang
trabaho? marami ang walang kaalaman? marami ang
namamatay dahil sa kahirapan? how can you relax
on your airconditioned room, drink a glass of
wine, swim on you pool, tour around the world,
ride on 7 cars within one week? how can you
be that luxurious when everybody is starving to
death? how can you lie to people promising
good future and yet you pocket all the money?
how can you swallow all these realities? parang
nakakahiya sa mga kapatid nating mahihirap ano.
habang buhay na silang mahirap. kailan tayo
talaga magbabago? bakit kaya kayo nagkakandarapa
sa pagkakaroon ng posisyon? what is really in
that heart of yours? is it pure love for our
nation or simply love for oneself? please HAVE THE
    HEART!

Hope all opposition must admit they are server not landlord.it’s not the president the problem. it’s the system. I LOVE ALL

No matter how sweet their tongues may be, politicians will always be politicians..Good at twisting lies, good in hiding..Hiding their unlawful deeds..I know not all of them are nasty, but you can count on your fingers those who are dedicated and honest in serving our state..

To the GO group, you often point out what’s wrong with the government..How faulty the current administration is..But when we vote you, WILL YOU DO ALL THE THINGS THAT NEED TO BE DONE FOR OUR COUNTRY’S REVIVAL?!..Don’t put in words SHOW IT IN YOUR ACTIONS..It’s time to bring back the trust of the people to the government..

  41. Meme Says:

    Vote Wisely! Straight TEAM UNITY

I’ve been leaving in the UK but right now I’m here in the Philippines. This coming election I will vote straight to TEAM UNITY – I don’t like all the candidates but by voting straight it shows that my support is to the administration of Pres. Arroyo. My British husband said that the reason our politics is not stable it’s because of our system - we vote on individual candidates.

    Example:
Let’s say on this coming election it’s the Opposition who win the majority in the Congress and in the Senate so, what they’re going to do is just make the administration of Pres. Arroyo difficult – not easy, their going to file an impeachment to remove Pres. Arroyo in power – and who will replace? Back to J. Estrada again – our politics will just go in circle – never ending story of political aggression – NO PEACE – and who will be affected ‘US’ the Filipino people – Politicians don’t mind that we suffer for their actions – all they’re interested is the POWER.

My husband said that in United Kingdom they vote to a political party not to the individual candidates that’s why they don’t have political violence and the party they elected – can work together as a TEAM for the PROGRESS of the Country. And this kind of system is the best in the world if only people will just VOTE WISELY.

He also said to me that our President (ARROYO) is the best we have at present – take that from a foreigner’s point of view. If all of us Filipino can give our support to our Pres. and allow her to do her job then we might achieve STABILITY in politics, peace and order, and economy – then PROGRESS will follow.

So why don’t we just support the Present Administration - PRES. ARROYO
