Gerry Peñalosa beats Vorapin to retain WBO title

Filipino boxer Gerry Peñalosa of the Philippines beat Thai challenger Ratanachai Sor Vorapin to retain his World Boxing Organization (WBO) bantamweight title on Sunday at the Invasion: Philippines vs The World boxing event at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
Referee Gino Rodriguez prevented the fighters from continuing the bout after seeing that the Thai boxer cannot trade punches anymore with 29 seconds remaining in Round 8.
