Gerry Peñalosa loses to Juan Manuel Lopez
Gerry Peñalosa was beaten by WBO super bantamweight champion Juan Manuel Lopez via TKO at the Coliseo Ruben Rodriguez in Bayamon, Puerto Rico.
Peñalosa’s trainer Freddie Roach decided to stop the fight between rounds nine and ten. “He [Lopez] is just too strong, overpowering,” said Roach.
The undefeated Lopez (25-0-0, 23 KOs) punished the Penalosa all throughout the fight landing 444 punches out of 1,020 thrown. Peñalosa, who held the WBC super flyweight title and is the reigning WBO bantamweight champion, dropped to 54-7-0 36KOs.

Juanma Lopez won the fight, but my respect and admiration goes to Gerry Penalosa….The little guy never bogged down, refused to kiss the canvass despite Juanma’s relentless attacks, and traded blows till the end.He is a true warrior and champion…
