GMA 7 issues statement regarding Maguindanao massacre
Here is the official statement of GMA 7 regarding the Maguindanao massacre:
“We are no longer who we were before Monday. Even in the annals of political violence in the Philippines, there have been no parallels to the slaughter that occurred on the lonely road to Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao on November 23.
“52 unarmed civilians all, the majority of whom were media professionals, the victims were en route to perform basic functions in a civilized democracy: the Mangudadatu women were to file certificates of candidacy; the lawyers were to provide legal advice; and the journalists were to bear witness on behalf of the public and to report on an important event without fear or favor.
“All of these roles are essential for a political system where power is meant to be transferred without violence.
“What met them in a town recently renamed Ampatuan was the exact opposite: a force and mentality that invoked the barbarity of more primitive times.
“The crime that occurred in Ampatuan was uniquely savage, but it was also an extreme example of the violent tendency in our politics. At the other extreme are the many citizens who are bravely committed to the difficult and complex process of peacefully deciding who our leaders should be, such as those souls who perished on Monday.
“It is this tension between savagery and peaceful process that has marked our electoral history. Those are the most critical choices in 2010.
“Much will depend on how the government reacts in the coming days. For what is emerging is evidence that the assailants were not outside the law but part of the political machinery of local officials backed by the Arroyo administration.
“The President so far has ordered a thorough investigation and declared a state of emergency in Maguindanao, Sultan Kudarat, and Cotabato City. Philippine National Police Director General Jesus Verzosa has relieved four PNP officials in Maguindanao.
“We trust that this is just the beginning of a series of actions that will bring all of the perpetrators to justice, including the warlords who orchestrated this bloodbath.
“If they are permitted to escape harsh punishment, it will clearly be a vote for barbarity and for the other savage armies prepared to assault our maiden automated elections.
“As we wait for action, we grieve. We grieve for the believers in a democratic system who paid with their lives. We grieve for the martyred journalists who believed the Constitutional protection of their rights was enough.
“By travelling without arms to perform their democratic duties in hostile territory, the 52 made their choice. We honor their example and sacrifice, as their fate continues to chill our bones. As fellow believers, we could have easily been them.”

dami salita. dapat gawan agad ng action. kung ordinaryong tao yang suspek..siguro matagal na tinuligsa….remember kay ted failon dati? pero since ang main family of suspects ang siyang dahilan nanalo si madam gloria, ayan…ang bagal ng action. baka kasi ikakalat pa ng suspects ang mabahong amoy meron si madam in the last election.

the actions of Ampatuan clan is one of the most worst of all. Are we going to elect this kind of candidate again???
can we request our government to send mr Ampatuan Jr. to a certain Plaza and lets trow stone on him. better show us what the goverment will do about this killer. Let him (ampatuan jr) stand on the public and face the firing squad.
can we also ask the goverment to disqualified or remove the Ampatuan clan into the any office or positions.

I hope this statement of GMA7 denouncing the worst and largest mass killings in Philippine history does not stop after this declaration.
Any attempts of the Arroyo government, to moderate, downplay or to tone down this issue of 2009 Maguindanao mass murder of innocent civilians should be rejected outrightly and treated with extreme contempt.
Noli de Castro’s claim that Mrs. Gloria Arroyo did not order any kid-glove treatment for the Ampatuan clan should be taken with a grain of salt. We must learn our lesson about de Castro’s behaviour.

At sa ngayon, I can say that I will not allow my family to live in this kind of land.

MAGUINDANAO MASSACRE – JUSTICE MUST PREVAIL !!!!
Looking back to what had happened , it’s really TRAUMATIC to each and everyone of us,when PEOPLE WITHOUT CONSCIENCE can do such a GRUESOME/BARBARIC CRIME.As a woman myself, what they have done to the women-victims were INJUSTICE BEYOND WORDS.They all died because of people that have been so GREEDY WITH POWER .Whoever have orchestrated and have done this MUST PAY TO THEIR LAST DROP OF BLOOD.There must be more buried in their area ,if it wasn’t a blown up news- they’ll belonged to people that have been buried to unknown locations and the bereaved families that have lost their kins, friends will forever never see even their very bones.JUSTICE MUST PREVAIL,no one is excused for committing such a crime that shocked the whole world. It’s sad because not all people here in Mindanao are as HEARTLESS as those that have done it.We are PEACE LOVING AND HARDWORKING PEOPLE that just want to live in a PEACEFUL/CRIME-FREE ENVIRONMENT.Due to this ,our Mindanao will be SCARRED FOR LIFE and some people now thought that it’s unsafe to go here.
I have lived here for 41 years,my grandfather have never left our place – even died here ,because for him he had found the LAND OF PROMISE .He has chosen to live here with his family because he was charmed by the place,he served as the 1st Vice Mayor of a city here and he’ll always tell us that wherever we go we’ll always go back here in Mindanao. He has befriended Muslim clans because he got a farm planted with palm oil somewhere in Sultan Kudarat. There were tough times during his early years staying on that area but what had happened in Maguindanao was perhaps the worst in the history for it involved innocent people /hardworking people/women that were killed for a WHIM.
Everyone here wants JUSTICE for what they have caused us all.We all fear for our lives if these people can’t be all caught .They must pay for the crimes they have committed.
I do hope that there’ll be more evidences leading to the downfall of the people behind this UNFORGIVABLE CRIME OF A LIFETIME.
Praying for the bereaved families that they must find ways in accepting what had happened to their loved ones, for us living here in Mindanao, that we’ll be protected from abusive /heartless people that terrorizes our peaceful lives.
We must be vigilant at all times, because we never know what happens next.
Thanking people that have done their very best/worked hard to come out with an analysis that can be very vital/useful to unveil the REAL TRUTH behind this RUTHLESS CRIME.
