Goodyear tires Philippines closes plant in Las Pinas
Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. is set to close its tire plant in Las Piñas City, Philippines on Sept. 30, 2009 amid weaker global demand.
The closing of the plant would result in the laying off of 500 of its 600 Filipino workers. They will, however, maintain their marketing, sales, distribution and administrative offices here.
Goodyear Philippines would reportedly source its supply from plants in Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand.

This is the problem when labor cost goes up. Workers should be realistic in making demands. Otherwise, they will be digging their own graves.
