ABS-CBN’s noontime variety show “Happy Yipee Yehey” (HYY) is set to air its final episode on February 4, 2012.

That’s less than a year after it premiered last February 12, 2011. The grand finals of “My Girl,” which will be held at the AFP Theater will be one of the highlights of the last episode.

Now there is a rumor that HYY will be replaced by a new noontime show titled “Palibhasa Tanghali,” which will be hosted by Richard Gomez, John Estrada, and Joey Marquez.

It can be recalled that Richard, John, and Joey were the lead stars in the now-defunct sitcom, “Palibhasa Lalake.” The rumor could have stemmed from the recent signing of Richard Gomez and Joey Marquez with ABS-CBN.

If the rumor is true, will this new show finally topple the Philippines’ longest-running noontime show “Eat Bulaga!”? We don’t think so.

It would be a better idea if ABS-CBN made a “Palibhasa Lalake” reunion show. Carmina Villaroel who was also part of the original “Palibhasa” has also just re-signed with ABS-CBN.
