Joe Datuin wins prize for Beijing Olympics sculpture artwork

Filipino artist, Joe Datuin has won the grand prize for the sculpture category of the Olympic Sports and Art Contest of the International Olympic Committee.

He bested other artists from 36 countries and regions for his masterpiece titled “Dancing Rings”, which is stainless-steel rings that reinterprets the traditional Olympic logo into a flight of the athletic spirit. He won the 30,000 U.S. dollars and a diploma. Datuin, 52, is a graduate of Fine Arts from the University of Santo Tomas.
