Kim Chiu to play Jasmine in local version of My Girl
Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition Big Winner Kim Chiu landed the lead female role in ABS-CBN’s local version of the hit Koreanovela My Girl.
ABS-CBN has secured the franchise of the said drama from SBS Korea and has chosen Kim to play the main character, Jasmine. TV Patrol World reported that Gerald Anderson will play the lead male role, Julian.

i don’t like remakes. i watched “my girl” sa primetime dati i like it and i don’t know if i will appreciate this local stint. sana wag matuloy hayaan na lang GMA gumawa nyan, sanay naman sila dun haha, sanay mag recycle ng mga scripts.

For a newbie, Kim is getting a lot of good offers. No doubt, Kim is pretty with a fresh personality. But let’s face it: She just looks the same in every angle I see her in. She’s no good in drama. I can’t possibly understand what she says (must be because she has the Chinese accent) and her crying scenes are not that convincing. Sigh.
Lee Da Hae of My Girl gave a GREAT PERFORMANCE. It was really superb that I felt happy when she was happy and I even felt sad for her when she was crying. I do not think Kim is capable of stirring the emotions of the viewers like the original can (no offense). With the acting skills she is showing now, it is VERY DOUBTFUL that she can pull off the acting versatility LDH showed.
Gerald is more like a tag-along. If Kim plays the lead role, there should be no leading man other than Gerald Anderson. I find this disappointing. Gerald is even WORSE than Kim. And I’m being really kind already with that comment.
I really hoped that ABS-CBN would get a better and more experienced actress for this venture. My Girl is a great KDRAMA and I don’t want it to be butchered. Toni Gonzaga would’ve been a MUCH BETTER choice but oh well. ABS-CBN is just counting on the KIMERALD tandem to work its magic. I just hope that it does not lose its charm.

(P.S.: It was GMA 7 network who first proposed a collaboration between Korean and remaking a drama. They were planning out since early-mid 2007 in case you did’n know.)

In our opinion, Mikee Lee deserves to be Nikko in this series. The already established Kim-Gerald-Mikee love triangle will not be hard to push. Mikee is also Chinese, which can be fitting for this series.
I assure you, this love triangle is sure to be a hit in My Girl, just as it was a hit in PBB Teen Edition.

Its better if c toni gonzaga at sam milby ang gumanap ng my girl remake. Napakahina talaga ng abscbn. We are not chinese ,korean o taiwanese, nag papa under talaga mga pinoy sa mga intsik! I agree Ms. Yvon, ang hilig talaga ng Pinoy mag idolized. Gusto talaga na inaapakan tau ng mga intsik. Kagaya kay Sandara Park pinanalo talaga nila eh OA naman. Wow! amazing…………talaga…………ciguradong maghi-hit ang pinoy version ng my girl kasi bagay na bagay ni Kim Chiu ang role na ito. Marami talaga ang manonood niyan kasi napakaganda ng istorya…..100% na no. 1 sa ratings iyan. Imagine nyo yung “Sana Maulit Muli” diba naghit yun? Yung mga naninira ni Kim ay ang mga taong hindi mga kapamilya………..sure na sure iyan. Wag kayong mag-alala sa Nationwide ratings no. 1 tayo. Wag problemahin ang Mega Manila kasi Part lang yan sa Nationwide. Good Luck Kim!

I loved my girl and how it was portrayed by the korean, AND if we are to make PINOY version, the lead must look PINOY too.. ..waaahh…c kim chiu buh?!?….ayyyy wag nah!!!…dti gus2 ko cia but as she moves on to her career i feel uncomfortable pag nkikita ko cia sa t.v i feel mas maraming deserving sa role nia…u know be4 i really like kim as in 1 fan nia ako but as times goes by she is changing her attitude (and even her appearance as in she is so payat) and making pa-cute…i have to admit it she is cute but she don’t have to make a funky laugh and funky smile evrytym so that she will look cute in the camera…ohh common…and besides she is really “overacting” or “trying hard” just wake up abs there is no time to spare i don’t like toni but i think she will do better than kim chiu…my girl is not all about pacute…my girl is about the liar girl who always keeps on telling a lie but not to her heart…the perfect role for kim chiu is d teenager roles and patwitams…not my girl…not because she is a chinese means shes deserving…duhh…and besides make a survey out of ten………..

The story is very funny. Kim delivers her line flawlessly. Here in Saudi Arabia, people are talking this show positively. To the detractors of KIM, they’re just bitter for they really don’t know what is a good craft and what is not. Go Kim and Go Gerald. You both deserve to be recognized. Very good chemistry.

ni men hao! i’m achinese here in the philippines. i’ve been living here for almost 5 years and i could say that i’m already a kapamilya. :D but i just don’t like the way kim acts. she is so trying hard. i know her gestures are like the koreans but it doesn’t suit her. whenever she speaks mandarin, i could barely understand her. her tones are very different. her chinese blood doesn’t show. i’m sorry to her fans. i was also a fan of her with her show “chances”. but when i got the news that she was to portray my girl, i was turned off. she brags her chinese descent but she doesn’t even look chinese. :| when she talks, i’ts as if her nose was crushed by a truck. i’m sorry. before, i loved her. but now, i hate her. bubbly and funny role just doesn’t suit her. :|

OMG!! i really like KDRAMAS!!! pero the filipino remakes are butchering them….sana wag na silang magremake..pangit naman kinalabasan especially MY GIRL ng DOS!!! it has bad acting, bad directing, bad storyline..everything is bad talaga…at least ang KIM SAM SOON ng SIYETE kahit korny ng acting ni REGINE, mas tolerable pa ring mapanood…
well, it doesn’t matter who was first, what matters is what people likes more…or the quality…
and in terms of quality..KAPUSO rules..pero pang masa and KAPAMILYA..
ke kapuso or kapamilya ………..basta NO to remakes of KDRAMA!!!!
