Miss Earth 2008 Winner - Philippines’ Karla Paula Henry
Philippines’ Karla Paula Henry was crowned Miss Earth 2008 at the Clark Expo Ampitheater in Pampanga Sunday.
She also won the Miss Earth Designers Award and Miss Photogenic special award.
In the question and answer portion of the said pageant, the final four were asked what they would tell US President-elect Barack Obama about the state of the global environment if ever they were to meet.
The Cebuana said that she would encourage Obama to implement environmental knowledge in the curriculum of schools not just in the US, but also in the Philippines.

most prestigous ang Bb Pinas? oo nman. most prestigious sa ka**ngahan (hindi lahat) imagine hindi nila sinasala mga contestant nila lagin na lang may nagkakalat hindi pdeng wala.ndadamay tuloy pati yung ibang smart contestants. ang laging isyu sa Bb Pinas “wrong gramming” (hehe). dapat sa screening pa lang sbihan na kung hindi kaya mag english magtagalog na lang para s knya dn nman yun. hay. ok lang sna kung sa abroad maging “wrong gramming” eh laso alam nyo namn dito sa Pinas mga “nativve speaker” sa galing ang mga pinoy pag pumuna sa mga “wrong gramming” hehe. haaay.

For me, it was a fair competition. She was adjudged Miss Earth 2008 because she truly represented our country to the best as she could. She is a package of beauty and brain. I know she is a model in her province, that is why she did great job during the swimwear and evening gown competitions. To Karla Paula Henry, CONGRATULATIONS to you. For me Karla really deserves to win the crown. I am really proud of her by putting Philippines in the spotlight once again. This is so far the very first crown for the Philippines since the start of Miss Earth in 2001 (2001 to 2008, all held in the Philippines). It is really not a big surprise because she had topped 4 preliminaries prior to the finals. This is evidently proved that she is a strong contender this year and the strongest Filipina contestant ever in the history of Miss Earth.
Yes, it’s true that Karla didnt even made into the first cut during the 2008 edition of Bb Pilipinas. But, please do not make this an issue, as this can not be accounted at all in Ms. Earth 2008. I think she prepared well for this competition more than what she did in Bb. Pilipinas 2008. And i will give her a credit for the great improvement she made.
Remember, Miss universe 1999, Ms. Botswana (miriam quiambao was then the 1st runner-up)? Prior to her winning miss universe 1999, she joined miss world 1998. Unfortunately, she was unplaced nor made it to the semifinals. There were also other Miss universe titleholders, who joined first ms world or ms international but unplaced, and eventually win miss universe. and also the other way around. (see wikipedia miss intenational, miss world, and miss universe). if this is possible to these pageants, then why not in a local beauty pageant? It’s a common sense after all!

Im so proud to karla for winning the miss earth 2008 title.
A host country winning a crown is very possible. Take a look at last year’s miss world. China won miss world 07 in sanya, china. How about Denise quinones winning the crown at miss universe 2001 in her homeland in Puerto Rico. Miss USA 1995 and Miss USA 1997 surprisingly won at Miss universe 1995 and 1997 respectively in their homeland USA. Thus, karla did the same justifiably.

the story is this, last year miss earth 2007, my sister is going home from his job it is about 10:30 p.m.. when a bus carrying the miss earth delegate hit my sister, the bus continue and left my sister on the road dying.

My family have been called by the hospital, when my father talk to the hospital doctor, the doc. said that it was a hit and run and my sister is in comma and have a little heartbit. so my father goes to the nearest police station to ask.

the police said to my father that there was a bus (isarog) in the other station with the Miss Earth delegate who said that they hit somone. so my father go there. when my father is in the police station, he ask were is the driver, to cut the story the atrny. of the bus comp. talk to my father that they cannot do anything and they will just pay my father worth 130,000.00 pesos,
