hello!
OMG! the winners in the recently concluded mrs.philippines 2009, mrs. phils.-world – a BIG! BIG! JOKE! how can she represent our country if she can’t speak SIMPLE ENGLISH?!!! don’t tell me she will tag along an interpreter with her? HAHAHA! girl, you better “make ipon ipon your inglis so you can answer the question inglis” hahaha! to all the judges, is she the BEST among the rest? how “babaw” naman your criteria or could be gusto nyo lang mapahiya si donaibel internationally?
OMG! again! day, teacher ka pala sa h.s. baket di ka marunong mag inglesssssss?????? ganyan naba talaga ang mga teacher sa ating bayang magiliw? don’t tell me again na you will tag along also an interpreter with you? day, sa US of A yun at di pwede ang “maayo tanan” if I were you, mag sisit-in ako sa English class kung san school ka nagtuturo para by the time na ng competition mo eh ready ka na!
For me, ang deserving manalo sa title na mrs.phils-world – si lizelle villanueva, mrs. phils-earth – si mrs. albarracin.
They really got beauty and brains and can confidently represent the Philippines internationally.
Remember her …My family…my family…oh my God!
Paging the organizers of this beauty pageant!!!!

December 24th, 2008 at 10:57 pm
December 26th, 2008 at 5:29 am
Christel ,even the judges doesnt deserve my respect kasi they are obvious biased when they picked a contestant who doesnt know how to express herself in English language. How can she represent well the Phils in international pageant where infact the judges knows that every filipino contestant can speak english compare to our neighbor country in Asia ,or Latin America .Lets face it Miriam Quiambao lost few points to Ms Botswana during Ms Universe pageant last 1999 due to her inability to express herself well during the final question. So it is an edge if you could espress yourself well in question and answer portion in any beauty pageant. And if you will watch it again ,the 2nd runner up went to Ms Spain that time even though she spoke in her own language ,Spanish, meaning even though you spoke in your own language but you didnt give substance to your words ,the judges will not give you their nod.
December 26th, 2008 at 11:30 pm
ha ha ha…ingarata basahin mo nga po ang comment mo….sa bandang huli sinabi mo rin ang sinabi ko..english nga lang ang pagkakasabi mo…”substance to your words”.
I agree that being able to speak fluently in english is a plus point whether you are a filipino or a spanish or whatever. But then as you have said …”substance to your words”. no matter how expert you are in english if your answer doesn’t fit to what the judges expect of you to answer, still it wouldn’t be enough.Miriam quiambao, inability to “express herself well” during the final question. Girl, in this world nothing is exactly the same. i mean, its a case to case basis, how sure are you that it is because of her english(if this is your point) ? have you ever thought that it might be the content of her thought(substance to words as what you call it)? or worse both? or confidence, certainty to her answer?
Liezelle Villanueva, yes she spoke good english and gave a nice answer but probably to the judges her answer isn’t enough.Maybe they are looking or expecting for something deeper….maybe they are waiting for her to answer. Making God as the center of their relationship or something else.
Speaking of God, ingrata dear, God has a plan why such happened.
You may disagree with me again
It’s okay. I’m expecting that
Everyone is entitled to his own opinion.
Happy holiday.

hay naku tinagalog na nga ang sagot di pa alam kung pano itagalog, kung di ba naman kasi pinatungan ng coconut shell ang ulo ng mga nanalo, sus, ginugulpi yata ng mga asawa nila yang mga yan kaya nahulog ang utak, hindi nga basehan ang english or tagalog na sagot, kaya lang sana narinig nyo ang mga sinagot sa simpleng tanong, pano nalang kung sa ibang bansa tanungin sila ng mga candidate dun, kailangan paba na lagi bitbit ang julalay para i translate ang salita, kahit ang tanong is ( are filipino using fork and spoon while eating?) then sagot ng gagang mrs world. ( NO BECAUSE WE EAT PLATE) hahahahahahaha… parang ganun ang sagot nya sa tanong ng about global crisis, saka wala naman ginawa ang judges, doon kasi natutulog sa pansitan, nabored sa mga sagot at deadma ang papel na hawak…..
January 5th, 2009 at 2:10 am

January 9th, 2009 at 12:16 am

I think people should make sure they know what they are talking about before they criticize other people. It makes us hypocrites to do otherwise. What I mean by this is to criticize the candidate’s english through posting a comment here, make sure your grammar is impeccable and doesn’t have anything in it to criticize as well. Because if there are, then you are no better than the very people you just bitched about.
I think the organizers should have screened more and a lot better, and chosen not only women with beauty, but also with brains. I agree with the people who say English knowledge is a must. In a country where English is taught as a subject from when we were tiny kids, those who do not learn it well pa, medyo me problema talaga dun. And even if you didn’t learn a lot in school, it also says a lot about your environment and upbringing, as well as personal interests and initiative. These are some factors that bring about personality, and I believe that personality, more than beauty, wins beauty pageants.
It’s a shame because there are a lot of women out there who are more deserving, but aren’t the least bit interested in joining pageants. Some women who are out there could easily compose an answer that is not well rehearsed (just in case it is asked), and even spontaneous and heartfelt! Come to think of it, these women must have been rolling on the floor laughing at those answers too! Pageantry is sadly considered “jologs” in this country, except for a select few very educated and beautiful women (e.g. Charlene Gonzales, Miriam Quiambao) who managed to penetrate it.
They should tighten the qualifications and get only excellent candidates, even if it takes them a whole year to find, and so it will someday look like an exclusive, snobbish club of beautiful, talented, smart and powerful women that even businesswomen and careerwomen would wanna join!

March 18th, 2009 at 3:05 pm
lam mo nyo po i think mrs.world won also because of her nice attitude and very down to earth person.d katulad ng ibang cndidate na maarte, mahilig mamintas at matapobre.hndi nmn kc kailangan ng puro gnda lng at talino dapat may mabuti ka ring kalooban at ugali. oo nga mgnda cla matalino at mgaling mag ingles pero dmo nmn lam kung ano ugali nya.ung iba nga,in front of the camera, they’re very kind to others but off the cam,la n.anyway, we hav our own opinion.so for me un ang npansin ko s knya.
March 18th, 2009 at 3:20 pm
and bilib ako s knya 19yrs old lng xa pero hndi xa nag back out khit anong manyari.unlike others na hndi kinaya.and matetrain p si mrs.world kaya may pag asa sya manalo abroad.malayo p mararating ng batang ito.
March 31st, 2009 at 2:30 am
tanggalan kaya sila ng make-up maganda pa rin kaya??? sana!
May 1st, 2009 at 3:06 am
to christel:
the best thing is to look natural, but it takes makeup to look natural. Ika nga ni Tyra Banks, “I love the confidence that makeup gives me!”
June 4th, 2009 at 9:27 pm
ay oo naman maganda ako with or without make up.Its just that it would be better or best if the winners are beautiful even without make-up, plus smart and witty pa.
June 4th, 2009 at 9:29 pm
June 15th, 2009 at 4:46 pm
ur ryt christel
June 15th, 2009 at 4:49 pm

June 30th, 2009 at 10:59 pm
Amused & Chisin,
Have you ever wondered why Germans don not speak good English and yet they have Mercedes Benz, the Japanese do not even try to learn English and yet look at how developed their economy is or even the Venezuelans, they always have their interpreters but and yet they are winners. How shallow your understanding of what takes to succeed, now wonder we are a changeless land. With the kind of thinking and crab mentality we have, we are destined to be fail as a country.
June 30th, 2009 at 11:04 pm
Taking pride in what you are will lead you to what want in life. We have two selfs, the one who we are right now and the one we ought to be. And someday those two will eventually meet. What am I trying to say here, these candidates joined this pageant because they wanted to give honor to our country and what to we do? Instead of supporting them, we despise and criticize them as if they have wronged us. If you are so good, why did you not joined the pageant in the first place, or organize it even.
June 30th, 2009 at 11:15 pm
And lastly, this is a beauty pageant for crying out loud! This is not a extemporaneous or sentence construction contest. If you guys are looking for highly intelligent answers, you should have watched Battle of the Brains or Quiz Bee.
The judges did not in particular looked at the correctness of the answers but rather how did the candidates amidst pressure answer each question with elegance and poise.
August 22nd, 2009 at 1:24 am
i agree with you that this is a beauty pageant but the winner will represent her country in the international scene. and is this anything to do with owning a mercedes benz or the status of the japanese or venezuelan economy? i don’t need to learn english if im a german to buy a mercedes benz, what i need is money. also try to compare the economy status of the philippines with that of your examples? it’s really funny. and if the judges didn’t looked at the correctness of the contestant’s answer, then they shouldn’t have asked them anything in the first place. so this contest is really just a show after all. it should have been a fashion show instead becoz fashion shows don’t have the Q&A portion. answering with elegance and poise but nonsense?? it’s so stupid for the judges to choose the winners in that criteria. and guys beauty without brains is just nothing. they didn’t do this to give honor for the country… what a hypocritic argument, it’s giving honor and fame to themselves, this is a way to make their market value higher.
August 22nd, 2009 at 1:33 am
super correct ka sis. and for competitions marami dyang plastik. kaya if you’ve seen her na mabait, do you think she is in real life? pra rin yang mga artista eh, mga plastik. and for that matter i don’t care kung mabait man sya o down to earth o hindi, what’s important is kung deserving ba sya or kaya ba nya na irepresent ang country to the international competition. hindi naman kelangang super intelligent, it’s just that sana logical magisip and ung may sense. simple english words would do as long as it’s in the correct grammar and communicated well and syempre the answer should be related to the question. un lng!
September 10th, 2009 at 3:45 pm
higit sa lahat…a real winner is someone who can accept that sometimes she has to lose
September 14th, 2009 at 11:29 pm
Barbie, I feel you. They don’t even have to speak straight fluent english. At least an answer that makes sense, logical, related to the question of course, and one that is PLEASE not rehearsed and doesn’t sound like she just spent the last few days trying to memorize it! LOL The sorriest thing to see in these pageants is when a girl is trying so hard to remember her supposed answer and she recites it so rigidly because she is afraid she might forget one word. wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
