National Artists of the Philippines 2009
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has conferred the Order of National Artists under Proclamations 1823-1839 to seven individuals.
National Artists of the Philippines for 2009:
Manuel Urbano a.k.a Manuel Conde (Film and Broadcast)
Lazaro Francisco (Literature)
Federico Aguilar Alcuz (Visual Arts, Painting, Sculpture and Mixed Media)
Cecilla Guidote-Alvarez (Theater)
Magno Jose “Carlo” Caparas (Visual Arts and Film)
Francisco Manosa (Architecture)
Jose “Pitoy” Moreno (Fashion Design)
The title is given to a Filipino for having made significant contributions to the development of Philippine arts.

si alvarez, ang head mismo ng NCCA at adviser ng malakanyang pagdating sa ganyan ay naisama sa national artist?

tapos si GMA nagdagdag ng 4 na hindi man lang nascreening.

Ay naku talaga! Meron nga akong di kilala sa list. Wala talagang credibility yang GMA na yan… Para kay Dolphy, di bale kung si GMA lang din naman ang magbibigay eh parang wala lang.
Alam ng mga tao na matagal ka na dapat na national artist; at yon ang mas na nakahihigit.

Sir Ramon Santos from UP was not included in the list of the National Artists of the Philippines 2009; and there was a “dagdag-bawas” among the list of entries based on the statement of one of the board members. Why is this happening? Even in the field of ARTS there is politics involved! Through arts people can express themselves freely and those artists that must deserve an award must be recognized…

Based on the news, one of the advisors of the president GMA was included in the list although she was not chosen by the board members….hmpf…Pilipinas!

dba may screening na ginagawa sa pagpili ng national artist.ang alam ko nga dapat may social,political,historical relevance ang mga pelikulang ginagawa ng direktor para mapabilang s cya sa list ng national artist.bakit namn naisama ang bwisit na carlo caparas jan eh puro commercialize ang pelikula na hayop na yan.

Pataw naman yan! Bakit naman nasali si Caparas? Nagulat ako dun sa nakapost sa FB, yun pala yun binaboy daw ang NAA 2009. Kaya pala! Okay lang yung iba si Guidote, Manosa Alcus, etc pero si Caparas? BAKIT? Tama si Dolphy pwede, pero sa Fashion Design in my opinion si Patis Tesoro ang dapat! Maybe Pitoy contributes enormously but Patis Tesoros Pinya and Abaca creation, meron ba si Pitoy nun? Pinoy ingenuity! Sana di na nakialam jan si Galotay, teka sya ba nagdesisyupn o yung mga Chuchu nya?
