National Telecommunication Commission (NTC) scraps plan on bandwidth cap

The National Telecommunication Commission (NTC) reportedly decided to scrap a proposed bandwidth cap after it was met heavy opposition from internet users, which include Bloggers, web designers, consumers, Internet café owners.

“We are happy to announce that the provision on broadband Internet data caps has been deleted from our draft circular,” NTC Deputy Commissioner Jaime Fortes said at yesterday’s Communication Convergence Forum between the Philippines and Korea. The NTC is also set to conduct regional consulations to gain useful insights to improve internet service. The venue of the first regional consultation will be in Baguio.
