National Bureau of Investigation director Magtanggol Gatdula will reportedly be replaced as NBI chief.

This after the Department of Justice (DoJ) found probable cause in filing kidnapping and extortion charges against the NBI officials, Mario Garcia and Jose Cabilla, including Gatdula.

This is connection with the alleged kidnapping of undocumented Japanese Noriyo Ohara by the said NBI agents where Ohara’s foster family revealed that a 6-million ransom was asked.

Ohara flew to the Philippines in 2009 and stayed with the Marzan family who served as his foster family in Bugallon, Pangasinan. NBI agents arrested her for violating immigration laws on Oct. 28, 2011.

Gatdula may be replaced by retired PNP chief Raul Bacalzo Jr., who is also a lawyer.
