16-year-old Filipino junior tennis player Francis Casey “Niño” Alcantara and partner 17-year-old Taiwanese Cheng-Peng Hsieh bagged the junior doubles title in the Australian Open 2009 in Melbourne, Australia.

They beat Mikhal Biryukov of Russia and Yasutaka Uchiyama of Japan, 6-4, 6-2, in the final match. Alcantara, who is currently a fourth year high school academic scholar at Xavier University in Cagayan de Oro is the first Filipino to ever win a title in one of tennis’ four major tournaments (Australian, French, Wimbledon, US Open).
