Filipino fast-rising boxing star Nonito Donaire has reportedly left Bob Arum’s Top Rank Promotions to sign a multi-year agreement with Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions.

“I’m honored to be joining so many great fighters and champions on the Golden Boy Promotions team,” Donaire said. Bob Arum, however, believes Donaire still belongs to Top Rank. “Top Rank has a valid contract [with Donaire] and we plan to enforce our rights,” he said. Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer is ready for a possible lawsuit, “Anybody can sue, and I’m going to leave that in our attorneys’ hands. I don’t think they [Top Rank] have any grounds for [a suit].” he said.
