Lacson added that Gonzalez is setting a bad example for other public officials this election season. Meanwhile, a separate disbarment case was also filed by lawyer Ely Pamatong before the Supreme Court against Gonzalez for his remarks on US Peace Corps volunteer Julia Campbell’s murder. Gonzalez earlier criticized Campbell for hiking alone in Barangay Batad in Ifugao province saying that she was “careless” and “irresponsible” for doing that. The DOJ secretary was criticized for making such comments but instead of apologizing, he challenged his critics to hike up the mountains of Banaue alone.
