The Puerto Princesa Underground River (PPUR) is now officially among the world’s new 7 wonders of nature (N7WN).
Puerto Princesa Mayor Edward S. Hagedorn announced the good news in a press briefing held at the Heritage Hotel in Pasay City.
This was confirmed by N7WN president Bernard Weber, who after reviewing the results of the online balloting worldwide congratulated the Filipinos for their triumph.
PPUR is an 8.2-kilometer underground river with a unique natural formation, featuring a spectacular limestone and complex cave system. It supports one of the major biodiversity areas in the Philippines.
Rounding up the 7 are Amazon, Halong Bay, Iguazu Falls, Jeju Island, Komodo, Puerto Princesa Underground River and Table Mountain.
