RP Government induces rain by cloud seeding
The Philippine government through the Bureau of Water and Soils Management has been trying to induce rains to help increase the water supply at the Angat Hydroelectric Dam and to lower the atmosphere’s temperature amid the impending power shortage and water crisis.
A decrease in temperature by one centigrade helps conserve about 100 megawatts of energy in Metro Manila. Three airplanes have been deployed for cloud seeding operations. The planes disperse chemicals into cloud beds in an effort to bring more rain. The procedure is costing the government 100,000 pesos a day.
