Seriously, this is about the SEAIR CRASH.... Who cares about the terminology. You guys should stop bickering about it. Seair should (and I hope is already) pay attention to the letter I sent to their president Avelino Zapanta.

when on your landing rollout and your not aligned w/ the centerline of the runway, causing you to go beyond the runway edge to the "grassy" part, that's also "flying beyond the end of the runway". we dont use websters or whatever dictionary in the aviation industry.

Oh my gosh! I was on that flight!!! Feb 24! We landed on the runway (i remember that we were on concrete) and all of a sudden we veered to the left and a split second later, we were above grass... I was sitting on a window seat - last row, left side. The aircraft fell into that ditch. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Thought I was going to die!
Overshooting or not is beside the point. The fact of the matter is, it happened. We crashed!
I wrote the president of Seair (Mr. Avelino Zapanta) about compensation and he replied with a polite and well crafted response. He mentioned that he will refer my letter to their lawyers and will inform me accordingly of their action on my representation.
Still waiting...

Bro, just checked the dictionary meaning of "Overshoot" - (of an aircraft) fly beyond or taxi too far along (the runway) when landing or taking off : he has overshot the landing strip again. Thanks!

I was a passenger of this SEAIR plane seated at the rear end. Just to clarify some items:
1. We did not overshoot the runway, we actually swerved to the left too early when we touched down.
2. Yes we did end up in the grassy part but I think it was not the end of the runway. We ended up in a concrete canal the divides the runway.
3. There were two passengers who had minor injuries not because of the landing but because they had to jump off the emergency exit.
4. I was the one who opened the rear emergency exit located on the right side of the plane. Most passengers exited the middle emergency exit on the left of the plane.
5. The main door could not be fully opened since it was being blocked by the grassy part of the canal.
6. I knew we had a bad landing because of the left swerve of the plane and the smoke, noise, and sparks I saw on the left window when it ended up in the canal.
7. If people doubt what I am saying, I have pictures to prove it.
Thank you very much.
