  • Franz

    Ayos ba ung 67?duh

  • wiki

mahirap talaga law. 67% is not bad and landing on top 7 is a great job! educate yourself imbicile :(

  • yuff

  • jez

we hope that the moderators will post these comments… a teacher is not effective if his student does not at least level up or surpass his knowledge after the teaching process is done. and who can say that the 8th is the least if the educators of some of those top universities came from ust?

i’m an economist and i might as well say that the survey does not speak so much of the reality and history our Thomasian ancestors have done far greater than just 10 years.

sana they listed the top pero with further explanation as to the methodology conducted for the survey. kindly enlighten our brethren how results came to that extent! we produce THE GREATEST NUMBER of students who pass the bar examination every year! oo marami kaming nag-eexam na studyante and sabihin man ng iba na quantity kami at ang percentage namin na pinapasa ay malayo sa dami ng nag-eexam namin. Pero at least we know that WE TRUST OUR OWN STUDENTS that’s why we send them to the bar. We don’t prejudice their right to prove themselves in their field!

Goals are just goals that you can achieve with different sets of bullets, but the trust you imbue with your students is far greater than producing bar topnotchers or lawyers…. BUT HOLISTICALLY TRUE THOMASIAN AND GOD-FEARING LAWYERS!
10 years is just 10 years. and 1734- 2009 is not just a set of 10 years but SETS OF 10 YEARS.

  • yuri

problema nyo, law students ba kayo para magcomment ng negative?? kung ano meron, pasalamat na lang. ok? mahirap mag-Law, kaya para mag-comment pa kayo ng ganyan, kaming mga law students, masaya na kami makapasa. anong paki ko kung top whatever lang ang law school ko? at least nasa top 7 or top 10, ndi maiisara. kung 67% or 89% pa yan, my concern as a law student is that I pass the bar.

  • dhens

okay….i still want to pursue my law sa UP.

  • mikhail

67% lang nga kami e.. pero kami lang naman ang nakapag-produce ng 6 na chief justices.. ilang ba ang naproduce na CJ nung naka line of 9 or line whatever? hindi nga sikat ang college of law kasi walang ganung college sa USTe. FACULTY OF CIVIL LAW meron.

we are THE OLDEST law school! kaya sure na sure meron sa mga alumni ng ibang law school ang galing lang ang alam nila sa 8th placer lang naman na university dito sa survey na to. because we ARE the educators of your topnotchers. tell us your faculty line up and our thomasian yearbook will reflect the same credible names. sa bagay, ang tunay na me ibubuga hindi dinadaan ang lahat sa babble lang.. we keep our silence but when needed we growl!

  • Franz

    @wiki imbecile NOT imbicile.

    @yuff What a lame answer.

@jez Hasty generalization. How can you be so sure that Thomasians are God fearing Lawyers. Have you conducted a survey or study?

@mikhail Any references to support your babble that you ARE the educators of the topnotchers? Babble Babble Babble…lolz

  • jez

@ Franz law student ka ba?

  • Franz

@mikhail Six(6) lang naman pala eh. UP has 12 CJ and 75 AJ.

  • mikhail

franz: haha.. pare sagot ba yan ng law student. napaghahalata ka tuloy. o baka naman hindi ka pumasa o kick out ka somewhere kaya ka ganyan ka-bitter. naintindihan mo ba yung mga post na binasa mo? o kung law student ka man first year ka no.. halata kasi yung syndrome e. dahan-dahan lang dude. baka mali bagsakan mo.

  • jez

    ah…. 12 CJ’s and 75 AJ’s… ohhhhh…ok.. hahahaha
But, by the way, kung hindi rin galing sa pinakamatandang law skul ang mga nagtuturo sa inyo, then, saan galing ang ibang prof ninyo? singaw?! ahhaha…

  • mikhail

besides, why am i wasting my time with you, wala ka namang alam.

  • http://sugar-sentiments.net/index.php Joy

Peace XOXO

  • jez

and franz survey nanaman????!!!!!!!!! are you an economist or a statistician to suggest a survey as basis of your premises? kung pala lahat, nadadaan sa survey edi ang Fear of God may scientific basis pala…haha…ang angas mo chong!!! siguro nasurvey or study mo na sa sarili mo ang mga takot mo at even ang faith mo sa Kanya! sad to say my dear friend Franz but surveys are subject to errors. pwedeng homoscedasticity, autocorrelation, and/ or heteroscedasticity!

  • http://sugar-sentiments.net/index.php Franz

  • mikhail

joy: i know you mean no harm. kindly check the net and the history books para malaman mo yung sagot sa tanong mo as to whether or not baseless ung sinasabi ko. if you don’t believe me, then just refer to the age of UST as compared to the rest of the schools. sorry for the name dropping, but you could also refer to the ateneo criminal law reviewer for this year’s bar exams. yung isa sa adviser dun alumni ng UST law. you could refer to the very reviewer that i am referring para makita na may basehan yung claim ko. thanks.

  • mikhail

    franz: . . .

  • jez

@franz…aahahahah…look who babbles now? di na kita papatulan! loser!!!

  • jez

btw, prof ko lang pala sa crim law 1 ang sinasabi ni mikhail…haha..and he even told us that he did not approve the criminal law reviewer of ateneo wherein he is one of the advisers. pero sinulat pa din sya dun sa cover ng reviewer. for references na kami ang educators ng topnotchers, then, look at that reviewer we’re referring to…

  • http://sugar-sentiments.net/index.php Franz

@jez By saying loser, pumapatol ka parin..Loser!

  • jez

  • shakbubu

wow. from a polite discussion naging ganto. school pride talaga, hahamakin ang lahat masunod lamang.

  • Pustong USTe

@Jez – Judging by your comments na you’re a freshman? It would be useless to argue with others if you won’t pass the bar, much less get kicked out of UST. Encourage yourself and your peers to treat each year in law school as already preparing for the bar exams. In other words, let’s walk the talk.

  • glaze

oops! :-) Tama na ang away. :-D
It’s better if we just review so that we’ll be lawyers in the near future.

It’s your knowledge and personality that count.

  • atenista

GUYS let’s all admit na halos lahat nung ibang nagtatop sa bar exam na hindi sa UP College of Law eh ang bachelors degree eh sa UP pa rin.Pls check data nung mga nagtop for the past ten years.

  • yuff

ay law student ka ba franz?? san k ng-aaral?? gnyan b turo s inyo??

  • josh

    Yes, ATENEO DE DAVAO….

    am Blue Knight!

  • josh

Well, most of the topnotchers were having their undergrad at UP.

  • jo

    congratz to admu!!!!!
… 91.24% passing rate for the past 10 years is really amazing.. sana lang lahat ng
na.produce na lawyers ng ateneo tinotoo ang pagiging “men and women for others”.
    congratz also to addu!!!!

tabi-tabi lang. SAN BEDA ang the BEST pagdating sa law. in history, samin galing ang may pinakamataas na naattain. at consistent kaming nagtotop with high passing rate! :)

  • Jake

    GO, SAN BEDA, FIGHT! :D

  • duchess

OF CIVIL LAW is the FIRST and OLDEST LAWSCHOOL IN THE PHILIPPINES… so there Follow the LEADER. Had it not been for the first, there wont be a second, third..so on…keep that in mind.

to those who are bitter with the results…

My goodness, how naive people can be, studyante pa lang kayo ang aangas nyo na, how much more kung maging abogado kayo. why don’t you just all concentrate on your studies and aim for the best, rather than going around telling everybody how good or old your school is. People would appreciate more the simplicity of an individual who humbly accepts the credits rather than brag about something outstanding where in fact he has no part in such a success. I bet none of you have taken the Bar yet and you aint part of that 10 year success of these schools, so why don’t you wait for your turn and lets see the results. I just hope I don’t encounter your elevated ego and unprofessional character in court, for when I do, I’ll make sure you’ll never forget the way you plummet to your consciousness. That is if you can pass the Bar.

  • jec2k3

you’re right yogurt…these are all immature people:-( ang bababaw.

  • karlmarx

outside visayas and mindanao, ateneo de davao is the best lawschool. although third world region kame, we still managed to perform well in the bar. hindi sa pamahalan ng tuition yan, or kung sino pinakamatanda na lawschool, it’s the consistency that matters. -peace-

  • jec2k3

there are a lot of things that need to be talked about, people…poverty, calamities, climate change, security, etc.. i wonder if you ever feel the concern. Rather than bragging about how good your school is or which is better or which is the best, think of how you can be able to contribute or how we could solve or at least reduce these to insignificant level..better yet, go and reach out to these needy communities….it is not your duty to brag about your school, let your school brag about you when time comes you pass the bar.

  • karlmarx

there would be no top 20 list of lawschool if there’s no such thing as “being proud about his/her lawschool”. it’s not my duty to brag about my lawschool but it’s my right to be proud of where i came from. you know what’s freedom of expression?

  • jec2k3

you only have the right to be proud of where you came from if you’ve been a part of its glory.the true measure of pride is your contribution to your country, people, and humanity….freedom of expression, of course it is good.

  • Jake

6 lang ang nag-topnotchers samin, sa SAN BEDA. but still, samin nanggaling ang highest attained grade, and we are consistent on top.

“the diamond standard (the highest general average ever obtained among all bar topnotchers in recorded history) was set in 1954 when Florenz D. Regalado of the San Beda College of Law scored 96.7% when he topped the 1954 Philippine Bar Examinations. To date, Atty. Regalado’s feat remains unsurpassed and may never be equalled.” – wikipedia na ang basis. :)

  • Tommy Andrews

Guys, that is the reason why we Filipinos remain poor. We always talk about ourselves and compare excellence within our level (internal). What you are discussing are just regional feats. Regardless of the school and discipline, other countries still does not see those schools you boast as excellent. While our neighbors are purely united in developing their education system that is boosting their economies, we always talk who’s the better school. Mostly are saying Ateneo or DLSU or UP. REMEMBER THIS: Let the other countries talk about our feats. Not us, talking and boasting within ourselves. WE ARE CREATING ENEMIES WITHIN OURSELVES even on simple subjects. We should not be talking who is the better school or who came from better schools? We should be concentrating, how we can be better than other countries as a whole.
I happen to work with people from other nations, Germany, France , Great Britain, UAE, Egypt, India, Sudan etc. Guess what, specially on the West, most of them will tell you they have not heard these schools we are always boasting about but i will bet my money that we Filipinos would have heard of the universities where these people had graduated.
In my humble analysis from their methods of their work, we are still far behind.
Your “excellent schools” will be nothing if our economic rating will fall. Remember also, that most corrupt officials we have actively on board are alumni of these “excellent” schools of yours.
Although i graduated from one of the top schools you were discussing, i am happy not to be like you kids boasting of the excellence of these schools. Let our country stand on its feet in terms of economic progress, then your schools might be in the top 100, not of South East Asia, but in the world.

  • lady

ang yabang ng mga tao. haha. kung magaling na ang law school, there’s no need to brag about its achievements; let people discover them without persuasions. sa mga proud, wow, you’re too proud; don’t boast too much, lalo na kung kulang ang evidences at maaaring opinions na lamang ang statements.

  • powerlogic

STD lng yan…

  • Nonie Calo

we’ll Im choosing between Arellano and San Beda, Dats my Dad’s prefer eh ehe ^_^ God Speed!

  • misty

Wow guys!! kakatuwa ang page na to, nakakalibang. A mix of obnoxious, egotistic, open-minded and reasonable people. Actually nakakainis ang mga unang posts, we get your point, good thing more sensible people responded.

kudos to franz! “@jez Hasty generalization. How can you be so sure that Thomasians are God fearing Lawyers. Have you conducted a survey or study?” >> I so agree with you, it really doesnt follow

@jez >> how big can your ego get?

@mikhail- the UP undergrad degree graduate >> could it be you that you didn’t pass UP LAE?

@jec2k3 ” it is not your duty to brag about your school, let your school brag about you when time comes you pass the bar…you only have the right to be proud of where you came from if you’ve been a part of its glory.the true measure of pride is your contribution to your country, people, and humanity”

    >> you inspired me, seriously.

Now I know I’m so not gonna enroll in USTE for a law degree this year lest I encounter such egotistic people. Could it be that there are more of you people from where you came from?

  • sissy

I agree. Although I’m a thomasian (I took my pre-law in UST), the fact that your school is the oldest doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re the best. It just so happened that you have the oldest law school but that doesn’t prove anything. No offense meant.

In my opinion, UST is good but other law schools such as Ateneo and San Beda are way better. The training that the students get from the latter schools I’ve mentioned is what makes their institution THE BEST INSTITUTIONS OF LAW. UP is overrated but the lawyers that they produce are relatively the ones that excel in the field of politics and even the law profession itself. But among the top three school, I’d say Ateneo and San Beda have remarkably proved (based on the number of its top notchers in the past years and its passing rate), to be two of the best.

But the more important thing is, regardless of the school, the fact that you passed the bar is what really matters. Your school only entitles you to bragging rights. AND YEAH, there’s nothing wrong in expressing one’s opinion. We all know that we are entitled to it.

  • Junnie

NICE KASAMA FEU! KASO LAGING SABIT ANG DLSU,. HAHA E MBA LNG NAMAN CLA HNDI LAW, JD-MBA, UNG JURIS DOCTOR ANG SA FEU.

    Anyway, go tamaraw!

  • beautiful mind

I think FEU-La Salle’s JD program is still new. If I’m not mistaken, the school has taken the bar exams for two consecutive years only (2008 and 2009). I think it should not have been included amongst the top performing law schools in the Philippines FOR THE PAST 10 YEARS (based on bar exams passing rate). Pero magaling din naman talaga siguro sila.. =)

  • CJ

    sigh…..god bless Pilipinas

  • chiefjustice

i beg your indulgence to your “prestigeous” schools. you just take it for granted.
you can stand head held high if you can be as excellent as your school. if not
i pity you, your just like an opportunist thirsty of fame and nobelity behind the mask of
    your so called “best” school.

  • karlmarx

ang issue dito is not so much about miss universe topics like love, peace, or vision.
reality check: many “lawschools” profit a lot at the expense of many aspiring change-advocates, without giving them genuine knowledge of the law. habitual absenteeism of teachers or pakikisama system among students and faculties RUIN the essence of a “lawschool”. that is why: the top 10 list served as a challenge, not a popularity news.

  • irish

can somebody post the requirements to be able to enroll in law?
i am a graduate of elementary education. thankyou

  • beastina

funny how this came up after my countless pursuit of info regarding law schools.
i am planning to take up my legal education but remain undecided as to where i should take it. anyway, this page made me LMFAO so bad. i can’t believe there are still people who would brag about their university. parang elementary lang ata ang gumagawa nyan?

and please, let’s not focus on the credentials of the university, rather focus on yourself. at the end of the day, its not the university, the professor, the review mats but the student who surpasses them all.

  • Ken

I want to study at UP but FSUU (pretty much non-existent insofar as everyone is concern) has always been my homecourt and comfort zone. we all have similar concerns and thats how to prepare for the bar. I understand its a competetive environment but i think at this point, we need to hel each other hehe

to all those people who post here:

as a lawyer and law professor, trust me when i say that it does matter to a certain degree where you graduated from, but it is not the “end all and be all” of the legal profession. Law students study the same set of laws and the same jurisprudence, only the instruction varies, and the “environment” (i.e., your classmates, whose capability and capacity you would have to reckon with in 4 years or so in law school). The “top” law schools earned their places, so to speak, because of the achievements of their alumni and their long history … other law schools, meanwhile, had high passing rates and famous alumni some ten or twenty years ago, but maybe because of poor management or the shifting priorities of the school management, these law schools are not faring well at the bar examinations at present.

At the end of the day, whatever school one came from, what matters is PASSING THE BAR EXAMS. Once admitted into the profession, that is when the world will know if you learned the law and was able to acquire the skills you need to become lawyers.

Nasa studyante yan. Ano ba reference niyo sa Consti 1? Bernas? Cruz? Ano reference niyo sa Crim Law? Reyes?

  • mons

the best law school is one which produces ethical, moral and holistic lawyers. the lawyers they produce are living mirrors of the kind of education these law schools give. at present, ateneo justices in SC fall short of these values. just my two cents worth.

    bakit wala FEU manila?

  • Lambda Rho San Beda Law

i graduated from SAN BEDA, and passed the bar exam of 2011, small school lang kami in size, but kaya namin makipag compete sa U.P at Ateneo, im just wondering bakit wala FEU manila? at FEU makati p ang kasama dito, haha, mahirap pumasok sa U.P pero hindi ka na matatanggal, unlike sa beda madali pumasok pero ang hirap ma retain

  • Bedan Lawyer
