TV5 vs Sky Cable over Aksyon TV

TV5 filed a complaint against Sky Cable before the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) for their refusal to air and allot a channel to Aksyon TV (UHF Channel 41 in Metro Manila, and Channel 29 in Davao and Cebu), the free-to-air, 24-hour sports and news channel of TV5.

Sky Cable’s refusal to air and allot a channel to Aksyon TV amounts to unfair competition and violates NTC rules according to TV5 President Ray C. Espinosa. Bong Osorio, ABS-CBN Corp.’s corporate communications head released a statement saying that their channel capacity is full as of the moment but they are studying how to increase it, which may take some time “due to dependencies on the technical end.” The Kapamilya network also denied allegations that they were doing it on purpose to prevent Aksyon TV from competing with ABS-CBN’s ANC.
