“Twilight” movie remake to be shown on ABS-CBN
ABS-CBN bagged the exclusive rights to make a local television series based on Stephenie Meyer’s “Twilight.”
ABS-CBN with co-producer Ignite Media reportedly paid US$1 million for the rights to the series based on the vampire novels. The local version is tentatively titled “Takipsilim” and will be topbilled by Rayver Cruz and Shaina Magdayao.
Taping for the said series will start February 2009. Some parts of the series will be shot abroad while local locations include Tagaytay, Bukidnon and Baguio. It will be directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina.

wow this will be a very risky project for ABS-CBN as they will bank solely on the Rounin’s love team up of Rayver and Shaina for the success of the local TV adaptation of Twilight.

the special effects that abs cbn adds in their shows are so crappy, so how the hell can they manage to reach the standards of the movie and the book as well..
the only good thing they made is they changed the name to takipsilim.

Please lets not judge first… for the very first draw… hindi ibebenta ng author ang rights ng story at hindi ibebenta ng movie makers ang twilight sa isang tao o isang kumpanya na hindi maganda ang concept at ang magiging production. The makers of the special effects would never agree if they would not take over the department. The special efects of abs-cbn is fast improving yet it still sucks major… The makers and the author will not sell their top grossing product kung hindi sila makakasiguro na maalagaan nila ang aesthetics ng movie as a whole… lets just be proud that the philippines would be the first to try such major projects. Isang project na hindi pinahandle ng maker and author sa isang malaking tv industry sa USA but instead here in our mother country the Philippines. When ABS-CBN bought the rights hindi lang nila nirrpresent ang istasyon nila but the Philippines as a whole so before we react please lets just hope for the best..

for the record lang po, kahit na sisters company ang abs-cbn at meralco hindi po ibig sabihin nun na may control ang bawat isa sa pagpapatakbo ng companya nila, separate entity ang abs-cbn sa meralco, kaya imposible yang sinasabi mong tataasan ng meralco ang service charge nila para lang makabawi sa pagkalugi kung sakali mang hindi papatok ang “takipsilim” sa mga advertisers.
bago nyo sabihin ang mga bagay na walang katotohanan at katuturan magsaliksik na muna kayo para may sense ang sinasabi at hindi para may masabi lang.

although i agree with most of you baka kung anong mangyarisa twilight npag ginawang tagalog series, i dont like rounin although Im 100% ABS Fanatic. although panget yung movie sobrang cheesy kaya siguro si cathy garcia molina ang kinuhang director dito… sana lang mas gawin nilang basis yung book kesa yung movie para mas maganda yung series. some points lang,
1. how could it be ruin kung kasama ignite media sa production? and before they made settlement Im surenag arrange na sila kung pano itatakbo ng series. ABS, when it comes to franchising, they made it better, betty la fea, big brother, fear factor, wheel of fortune among others. kasi they have to protect their name, their contract with international partners,and their dignity as well.

i am a great fan of twilight.. i have watched the movie many times… it is such a dishonor for us remaking this movie…. and i know y0u know it too… why copy the movie if you can make y0ur own? twilight is a great movie but i dont think “takipsilim” would be the same as the original movie and besides… ahm its not an insult.. its just my 0pinion… the team up is not dat fitted actually…. i cant even think of it as if they were edward cullen and isabella swan.. think about it. i am just giving my opinion.. no hard feelings…

actually, i’m not in favor with abs-cbn regarding this teleserye… kasi naman! we all know naman na this movie is foreign! wala na bang ibang gustong gawin ang showbiz ngayon kundi gumaya or mag-adapt??? gosh! pati mga songs ngayon tinatagalog na lang! nakakarindi talaga sa tenga to be honest! and speaking of special effects daw? ang alam ko kasi GMA ang magaling dun and not ABS-CBN! ano nanaman magiging kalalabasan niyan? katatawanan!! like Lobo, ang ganda ganda ng trailer tapos nung pinanood na napanis lang! bababuyin niyo lang ang story ng twilight! at di lang yun! ang pangit ng casts! pasensya na sa comment ko but i really don’t like the idea of adapting the movie in the philippines!

Para namang kayo ang creative, marketing and decision makers ng ABS CBN sa mga comments nyo. #1 May company ba as BIG as ABS CBN na basta na lang magfranchise ng ganito kalaking project? This went through a lot of consideration, brainstorming and they figured they will make a profit out of this project. #2 If ABS CBN is unable to DELIVER kapag pinalabas na, it’s the company’s loss and not yours… so WE as VIEWERS have nothing to lose JUST IN CASE. Although I know ABS CBN will definitely MAKE a LOT out of this project #3 Again if they fail? This is a business and the risk is worth taking so they dont loose anything at all.

Many says ganyan, kesyo ganun at baka magkaganun! Ganun ba talaga tayong mga pinoy……. I highly recommended Rounin na sya ding pinagbidahan nila Shaina and Rayver but the problem is rating in Mega Manila but in nationwide ratings malaki din naman ang hatak but look now how other countries in Asia admire the said sci-fi series halos nagkukumahog ang taga-Java, Indonesia at Sabah, Malaysia sa panunuood ng Rounin. If ever na itong Twilight o Takipsilim in tagalog ay makakuha man ng mababang rating at least naibigay ng ABS-CBN ang best effort nila bagamat may kamahalan, alam kung pwede rin itong ikumpetensya not only in local market but also international base sa isang site ng BBC na release last 2 weeks ago ang naturang pagbili ng rights ay isang malaking risk ng isang Asian Tv Network dahil ito rin ang kauna-unahang pagkakataon na makuha ng isang TV Network sa ASIA ang isang bagong release na pelikula at gawing isang part ng primetime block.
Bagamat risky nga ang pag-invest ng ABS-CBN sa naturang programa i know naman na before they put in hell may mga probabilities na silang pinag-aralan di naman basta magpapalugi ang ABS-CBN dahil pinangagalagaan din nila ang shares ng ilang stock holder.

im a huge fan/viewer of ABS-CBN..but i dont reckon this is a good idea..I know that they’re just serving the pancake while it’s hot but better not to waste such big amount of money for this only to be laughing stock later on..leave twilight in a big screen…

– just would like to comment on this issue. In my opinion, its a bad decision na gagawa sila na remake ng Twilight just because naghit sya sa US. In the first place, it would only justify na and mga pinoy magaling lang sa PANGGAGAYA, wala na talagang originality. And also, I don’t think we have that level of technology para sa special effects. Please come up na lang with your own bright idea na pwedeng maging hit–

Last December 23, nilabas ni Edgar Cruz ang article about sa remake ng ABS-CBN ng movie na Twilight, and the same time Perez Hilton releases his version of the clamor where everyone were furious about the idea. This morning i received an email from Tito Ed Cruz of Yehey.com regarding the updates on the alleged remake/adaptation of Twilight, with the local title Takipsilip where Rayver Cruz and Shaina Magdayao will be the main cast.
Here is Tito Ed’s email as posted on the Entertainment Section of Yehey.com
“Di ko alam ako pala magdi-direct ng ‘Twilight,’” director Cathy Garcia Molina curtly replied when Buzzbox asked her if she is opting for a localized version of the blockbuster vampire novel. The buzz is that ABS-CBN had acquired the rights to the novel for US$1 million and that Cathy has been selected to direct it with Rayver Cruz as Edward Cullen and Shaina Magdayao as Isabella Swan.
Cathy informed Buzzbox her schedule is heavy as she has to finish principal photography and post-production of the John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo starrer “A Very Special Love 2,” Star Cinema’s Valentine offering, before she could work on a new project.
This led Buzzbox to inquire from the talent managers of the actors in the unofficial cast if they have been casted for specific roles. Anjie Ureta, manager of Chin Chin Gutierrez who will do the role of Esme Cullen replied, “As of today we have not received information or inquiry regarding ‘Twilight’ remake for Dos.” Becky Aguila, the manager of Joross Gamboa as Jasper Hale and Empress Schuck as Angela Weber, texted, “Di ko alam. Wala pang sinasabi.” Veronique del Rosario, the manager of Nikki Bacolod as Victoria answered, “Wala pang offer.”
Could this don’t-know approach be a ruse? I got this idea when Carlo Orosa, the manager of Karylle as Rosalie Hale, originally answered “Wala pang official.” When asked for a clarification, replied, “Can’t be revealed yet.” Could it be the whole project is still a top secret and people in the know were asked not to talk about it. This may be similar to the information embargo ordered by ABS-CBN top management for “I Love Betty La Fea” as to the actor who would play the role of Armando. This turned to be John Lloyd Cruz which Buzzbox correctly second-guessed.
There are strong reactions from ‘Twilight” cult fans that a petition for ABS-CBN not to proceed with the project is on-going. The petition centers two issues: ABS-CBN’s lack of ability to do justice to the novel and Rayver not being fit to do the Edward Allen part. Before they do this, they have to find out first if the buzz is for real or a hoax?
Save the effort and hate words, guys! Buzzbox clarified with ABS-CBN Corporate Communication Head Bong Osorio and after checking with ABS-CBN Television Head Cory Vidanes categorically stated: “There is no plan for ABS-CBN to remake ‘Twilight.’”

MANILA, Philippines—ABS-CBN has no plans of producing a Philippine adaptation of Stephanie Meyer’s best-selling book “Twilight,” which has recently became an international hit movie, a network statement said.
The network denied a recent report published on the Hollywood gossip blogsite PerezHilton.com that the Kapamilya network was already preparing production for the local version.
“There is no truth to the web reports, particularly in the Perez Hilton blogsite that ABS-CBN is doing a local adaptation of ‘Twilight,” Bong Osorio, ABS-CBN Corporate Communications chief said in a text message to the Inquirer. “ABS-CBN will be the first one to announce if it is, in fact, doing so.”
PerezHilton.com splashed an alleged poster of the alleged Filipino adaptation, titled “Takipsilim,” which it said will star Rayver Cruz and Shaina Magdayao and directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina. The blogsite said filming for “Takipsilim” will start in February 2009.
Visitors to the site had expressed outrage over the supposed plans.

ABS-CBN never copied gameshows or any show abroad. They just franchised it: found good international shows, franchised it from the license holders or the company who produced the show, made a local version, tweaked it to become more Filipino, and that’s it. THEY DIDN’T COPY.
Summit’s version of “Twilight” is actually good, the storyline is pretty summarized but it does still lack some vital parts of the original story. In short, BITIN. I agree to some people that the TV network’s visual effects are so crappy (GMA-7’s effects are way too ahead of the competition, and TV5’s animations are catching up), but if ABS will upgrade their technicalities, then they deserve to pull of these kinds of things. But for me, a Filipino version of Twilight? No thanks.
Good thing ABS doesn’t have anything to build. The no-Twilight local remake is something to be celebrated. Happy new year everyone.

Nakakahiya talaga ang lahing Pinoy sa buong mundo! Lalo lang bumababa ang pagtingin ng ibang bansa sa Filipino kasi SUPER LOW LOW STANDARD TALAGA! Ewan ko ba bakit kung anong BADUY AT PANGET AY YON ANG PATOK SA PINOY?! SADYANG MABABANG KLASE LANG BA talaga ANG FILIPINO RACE?!
POLITICS:
- Kung sino ang walang alam sa pulitika at batas ay syang ibinoto at nanalo (oh my gosh! Disgusting why Former President Erap won?!)
- Recent Presidential Election (muntikan na manalo si FPJ..kung di lang sana nadaya ni Gloria Macapal Arroyo e panalo yon!)
MUSIC:
- Puro revival walang originality pero patok pa din (Para na rin nilang sinabi na lahat na marunong kumanta ay pwede mag revive kagaya ng mga kumakanta kanta lang sa CR! Jusko! Wala bang taga scan or regulate ng quality of music sa Philippines?!)
- Gumagawa nga ng kanta kopya naman sa ibang sigers/bands. Example: Cueshe (nangopya sa Simple Plan, Dishwalla, etc), Parokya ni Edgar (pinakawalang kwentang banda I’ve encountered mukhang mas maganda pa boses ni April Boy sa vocalist tapos ang mga kanta puro spoof ang layo naman sa original!, Regine ‘Gaya Gaya’ Velasques trying hard abutin ang taas ng boses kaya naintindihan ko na lang sa kanta nya ay tili tapos halata namang di pang international ang quality ng boses, sa diction pa lang sablay na parang kumakanta lang sa Quiapo market.
MOVIES/TELEVISION:
- Dayo (natatawa ako dito! 3D daw yon?! Baka 3 Days muna bago magawang ipikit ang mata ng character?! Hahahahahaha! Cge nga compare mo sa ICE AGE 3 yon! Kumusta naman?! Hello! Ok ka lang?!)
- Most of teleserye both GMA 7 & CHANNEL 2 are TOTALLY GARBAGE PROGRAMS like Gagambino of GMA 7! Nagmukhang tanga lang ang mga artista hahahahahha! Kaya tuloy walang option ang mga Pinoy kundi manood na lang sa kabaduyan nila. Ang ibang Pinoy naman kasi ANG TAGAL TAGAL NA SA DAGAT ISDA PA DIN! Kaya yon kung anong kinagisnan na channel dun na lang mag stick samantalang ang daming nagkalat na international tv channels. Such a stagnant mind! LOL
And now…. TAKIPSILIM?! Aba TAKIP MUKHA naman kayo di ba kayo nahihiya CHANNEL DOS e puro pang DOS lang alam nyo?! Pagiging NUMERO DOS ng TWILIGHT para sa local version! Wow! Ayosh talagang pinababa nyo lang lalo ang Pinoy! Parang sinabi nyo na ring kaya kayo gagawa ng local/tagalog version kasi maraming Pinoy di nakakaintindi ng English?! Waaaaaaaaaaah!
