UFC card in the Philippines in 2009
After the loss of Filipino-American mixed martial artist Brandon “The Truth” Vera to Brazilian Fabricio Werdum in their Ultimate Fighting Championship match at London’s O2 Arena over the weekend, UFC President Dana White revealed his plan to hold a UFC card in the Philippines next year.
“Yes, definitely [we're] coming to the Philippines,” White said. Meanwhile, Vera immediately called for a rematch against Fabricio Werdum but the Brazilian declined, saying he wants to fight for the UFC championship belt next. If he snares the crown then he would consider a rematch with Vera.
