Vote for Himala as CNN’s Viewers Choice Award

To celebrate the Asia Pacific Screen Awards, CNN is conducting an online poll and inviting people to vote for their favorite Asia Pacific film of all time.

Vote for Himala

The film that receives the most votes will receive the CNN APSA Viewer’s Choice Award at the APSA Awards on November 11, 2008. Voting closes on October 31, 2008 at 1800 GMT.

Himala, the 1982 Filipino movie directed by the National Artist for Film Ishmael Bernal and written by Ricky Lee is one of the nominees and you can vote for it HERE.

Himala is is up against films such as Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon from China, The Seven Samurai from Japan, Gabbeh from Iran, Gallipoli from Australia, Pather Panchali from India, Spirited Away from Japan, Oldboy from South Korea, Infernal Affairs from Hong Kong/China, and Chungking Express from China.

    why Himala in the first place? who picked that film for the phil.? limot na ba talaga natin yong mga films from Phil. Cinema’s Golden Age(s)? maganda din naman ang Himala, albeit over-rated. dangan kasi naglipana pa rin ang mga Noranians sa industriya. pilit binabangon ang patay na career ng actress. touche! sila rin ‘yong nagpupursige na mapabilang sa hanay ng mga National Artists si Nora… come to think of it, it’s more of a director’s film. dama ung Ishma’s “auteur” role– nasapawan nga lang ng popularidad ng actress. Galipoli, P. Panchali, 7 Samurai — deserving bawa’t isa na maging winner. di naman ganun katanda ang film history ng Tsina kaya me Crouching Tiger na pinantatapat. pero grandioso siya! (musta na kaya Genghis Khan ni M. Conde?– opo mga kababayan, nagawa na noon ng mga Pinoy directors na gumawa ng spectacular films– mapa-epic, action-adventure, ethnographic o drama)… kung maganda ang kopya ng Himala na isinumite for screening baka me laban pa. actually dark horse sya sa mga contending films…ideal na pairalin dito ang (Pinoy)national pride. pero wag naman nating gawing beauty contest ang paligsahang ito. di nga ba sunod-sunod na naging Ms. Photogenic mga Pinay? maganda rin naman sila. kaso madaming nagduda! paramihan kasi ng text…
