Wirecard – Virtual MasterCard Filipinos can use

Good news to online gamers and buyers who do not own credit cards but want to transact with MasterCard-accredited online merchants.

Asia Pacific E-Serv Corp. (AspacOnline), an Internet payment solutions provider, introduces the Wirecard. It allows users to load a ‘virtual’ MasterCard account with a minimum amount of $10 or about P500 and access more than two million MasterCard accredited online merchants.

AspacOnline has partnered with local Internet cafe chain Netopia, hoping to capture a ready market of Internet users. Netopia users can readily sign up for a Wirecard account and load over-the-counter.

The company is also in talks with local banks to allow re-loading via ATM or debit cards.

As a security measure, the service sends a security code via SMS that the user can provide to authorize a transaction with any merchant.

AspacOnline has partnered with Germany-based service provider Wirecard AG in making the service available locally.
